Hello, I (from UK) and my fiancé (American) just mailed our paperwork to the Dallas lockbox. We understand it can take 7-9mnths for USCIS to approve our petition. Our  concern is the time it’s going to take for me to be asked for an interview at the US embassy in London.  They haven’t done K1 interviews for over a year now and we are both slightly concerned how long this process is going to take because of the backlog. Is anyone else now just submitting their docs off? I would love to keep in touch with couples who are only just doing it and seeing how long this whole thing takes. Many thanks!!

There’s nothing that can be done about the processing time. It is what it is right now. At least by the time your petition has been approved by USCIS (probably around Christmas time) they may have cleared some of the back log at the embassy.

I know the wait is daunting, but you will get through it. Hopefully by the time your case makes it to London they will have cleared through a lot of the backlog. It's awful having no idea what sort of timeline to expect. Trust me, I've been there.

We're much farther ahead (have an interview scheduled in London for June), but we're also Florida/UK! Good luck to you and your fiancé!

Thanks so much! Since you have an interview scheduled for June - I take it they are resuming K1 visa interviews already:)?

They're not yet, but I assume that since they just granted blanket NIEs for K1 visas that they will resume processing soon. We were plaintiffs in the third round of the Milligan v Pompeo lawsuit. That's the only reason anyone has had an interview in the last year in London.

Back in August someone got a K-1 in London because they met a listed exception (parent of US citizen child): https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=338037

Yeah, I know there have been a couple expedites for extreme circumstances and of course the Milligan plaintiffs have also had their interviews. I was exaggerating a little bit when I said that the lawsuit was the "only" reason. There still have been practically no K1 interviews at all in London in the last year. As far as OP is concerned the interviews have not resumed and the backlog will be huge, which is the point that I was trying to make.
