Hello! My husbands passport for his home country is due to expire in October 2021 we are still waiting on his I-130 visa interview date so we were going to renew the passport but he found out it can take up to 3 months to get the passport back due to covid and on top of that they are charging an extra fee which will make the cost to renew $500.  Has anyone traveled with a passport less than 6 months before expiring? Is this allowed or is it a pretty strict rule to have a passport good for 6 months? We thought his interview would be in February then in March so we just waited and now we are not sure what to do.. thanks!

Passport is required to have more than 6 months left on it to travel

you will be waiting in AP after the interview if the passport has less than 6 months left

Adult passport is only $150

and largest price is $225 for 2 to 5 days (urgent passport)

That's what I was afraid of. My husband is actually in Grenada so they are being kind of difficult about the situation because the passport expires more than 3 months from now, they are saying he has a penalty to pay to renew it.  But the penalty to renew is better than AP.. thanks!
