What is the typical wait for when the NVC receives your documents until your interview date is made?

This is one area of confusion, as to my own understanding I was under the assumption that once you get your documents from the USCIS to the NVC everything started to move a bit quicker. We are in our 3rd month after our documents have been received by the NVC without any notices. Our USCIS package was received and approved in 5 months, so I'm just wondering if it is a similar process or whether Covid-19 has slowed it down a great amount? Does anyone know what the normal wait time is from NVC notifying you that they've received your documents to the documents going to the consulate and the interview being set up?

1st of all it always helps to answer questions about interviews when you list the country and do a timeline and state the type of visa

2nd the hold up is a year long  /  there are many that dq in April of 2020 and still wait for the embassy to schedule family based petitions and/or send batch of K1's to embassy for the petitioner to schedule the interview

no matter what embassy you are with,  u have a long wait  /  many still are not doing interviews at all

and others are short staffed and interviews are slow to happen

I apologize, we filed for a green card for my spouse and I am a US citizen, but this would be a CR1. My wife is a resident of Denmark and a citizen of Sweden so she would be going through Stockholm.

Is there a way to find out estimated times, or is there an alternative to her staying in the US awaiting the interview?

Have you submitted all the required financial and civil documents to NVC?  Have you received notice from NVC that your case has been Documentarily Qualified (DQ)?

Yes, I turned in everything beginning of January and DQ’d January 20th.

Once you are DQed, the wait time would depend on how well the interviewing embassy is handling their case backlog.  Unfortunately, there's no easy way to get updates regarding that, other than asking the embassy directly or other applicants waiting on the same embassy.  Here's an update sent by the embassy to another VJ member back in February --

Under current law, she can make short visits to the US during the process (assuming she has a valid entry document/status).  Be aware that every entry is subject to the discretion of CBP officers at the border.  All visitors should be prepared to show evidence of strong ties to their country.  Good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
