Bank Accounts for SO

I need to occasionally send Hamid money for things concerning his visa, etc. My credit union will not let him on my account since he doesnt live in my county...duh. SO what are other ways to set up an account? Thanks, Debbie

According to my bank you can't be on an account or open an account unless you have a SS#.

They issue a visa debit card to the foreign citizen, and you just add funds to the card, the card then can be used at an ATM to withdraw funds.

Does he have access to an ATM machine there in Morocco ? If so, and if they are linked to the main systems like Pulse, Cirrus, or Maestro.... it might be easiest just to set up a second account here in your own name, specifically for the purpose of sending funds. Mail him an ATM card, give him the PIN over the phone, and he can withdraw funds there as needed.

It will take him a good week to get the card but then he can use it at an atm and get local money or he can use it as a normal visa card. I've tried western union but they only gave him us dollars and he ended up getting less money for whatever reason. Ikobo is the easiest.

I opened an ITF [in Trust For] savings account at my local bank for my wife No need SSN or signature.

Sent her the ATM card. Cost $5 per $100 [Philippines].

Makes it easy plus it's more evidence of bonafide marriage.

I bank at Wahington Mutual and was able to send money into his bank account and it didn't cost me anything. But my husband was from Jordan. The only way that we used to do other wise was I have a Household Bank visa and I got two in his name one for each account and he was able to get things when he needed it.

If you go to visit you can open one in his country when you are there.
