Suddenly Missing Visa Status in CEAC

We have been tracking our case for the last two months since it left the NVC and it has been showing “in-transit” for the Bangkok embassy.  However, for the last four days, our case shows “no records found.”  We no longer see any record that our case number even exists?  Did anyone ever have this problem before?

Yes.  At some point the Case number (BNK...) stopped working for us.  Using the Application ID number (AA...) produces a "No Status" result.

Thanks for your response.  Your timeline is very similar to us.  So, if you were to look today, does it still show that there are no records or do you see a status?  We have been in transit from the NVC since 2/3 and now we don’t see any status. I contacted the embassy and they keep telling us to check the status on the CEAC website but I keep trying to tell them there is no status.  Therefore, I will just let it ride a while and see what happens.

I just checked again now and here's what happens for our case:

  • Entering the Application ID (AA...) returns a "No Status" message, but it does seem to recognize that it is a valid application since part of the message contains the correct date for the creation of the case
  • Entering the Case Number (BNK...) returns "Invalid Application ID or Case Number".  But for a while this would return an "In Transit" message

My fiancee has also emailed visasbkkiv@state.gov and received a reply similar to yours.  I would think that whatever action removed the "In Transit" status would have given it something more meaningful, even if it was "Put at the bottom of a big pile of backlogged work"  😐  I think Monday I will try an email to support-thailand@ustraveldocs.com - waiting is to be expected but I want to know if the "No Status" is normal or indicates some problem.

I also have noticed your timeline and see that you have scheduled an interview - how did you do that?  After submitting the DS-160 it was my understanding that we should wait for packet 3 before paying the fee and scheduling the interview.

Thanks.

Thanks.

This all started when my attorney said he received an email from BKK saying it was ok to schedule an interview.  However, the email gave no name or case number.  I asked him how did he know it was for my case.  He said we were the only case of his from BKK that did not interview.  So I went to the traveldocs website, which allows you to schedule an interview if answering “yes” to getting the email from the embassy and paying the fee.  But when I checked the status, it still said “in transit.”  So I contacted the embassy and they said we were not ready for an interview.  I will be cancelling the interview soon and wait.  Also, our message was a little different.  It said something like “no records found.”  Previously it was showing in transit for the last couple months.

Thanks for that info - I was beginning to think that we had misunderstood something about the scheduling process.  We parted ways with our attorney sometime shortly after receiving our NOA2 because we weren't satisfied with his work and I was wondering if some of the BKK communication was still going to him.

We're facing this same problem now too. @Steve and Nicha I see from your timeline that you finally have an interview set up. How long after your case number stopped working for you until they notified  you that you could schedule an interview? Thanks.

We could not see the status of our case for about 2-3 weeks at all.  When I contacted the embassy, I told them I was concerned that the case is lost.  But, they said it was not lost and not to be worried about that.  But it just magically appeared one day as “Ready.”  It also depends on when you received your case number from NVC because they have a backlog.  We had a NOA 2 date of December 11.

Thanks for sharing, @Steve and Nicha. That is somewhat reassuring, I guess, as we're just a month behind you. I don't see from your timeline when the Embassy notified you. Would you be able to share that? I'm trying to get a sense as to how much time from when they notified you until when you have your interview scheduled. Good luck with that, by the way!

Ok I added more info.  The software does not let me put consulate receive more than two months later.  So I just put two weeks after it was sent.  Also, the embassy now combines packet 3 & 4.  So make sure you see the latest combined for on their website and not use the old form.

@Steve and Nicha I just noticed that your interview date got pushed back by more than a month from what I recall it being last week. What happened?

The embassy contacted us last night and cancelled our interview.  They blamed Covid.  They said that they are making more people work from home and reducing the number of people on site.  Maybe they will cancel again on June 24. 😔

That really stinks for you--and for me, as we haven't even received our packet yet, so who knows when we'll ever get an interview set up. I don't understand why COVID is an excuse for them as the State Department has been vaccinating Embassy and Consular staff. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-state-department-says-covid-19-vaccines-shipped-all-overseas-workforce-2021-04-20/

I would just pay your visa fee and then schedule your interview.  This way you get in the queue.  In the meantime you will likely get notification of “ready” status and then you will not have to wait as long for an interview.  The worst thing that can happen is you will just need to reschedule your interview.

I can't find what thread I saw this on, but I read earlier today a post from someone who completed their DS-160 in advance of being notified by the embassy and it was rejected or something like that. Did you complete the DS-160 in advance of getting embassy notification?
