My hubby's case status just changed to Interview was scheduled, so we are starting to gather evidence as we wait for the letter in the mail. We have some concerns that we don't have enough co-mingling of finances. Because of covid, we have been quarantining for the year. We've been lucky in the sense that we have been staying at my mother's place for the time being, but because of that, my hubby and I have no utility bills that we share. They are all in my mom's name. our cell phones are even on my moms family plan (cheaper that way). I tried to get my husband on my health insurance, but since I had a grandfathered plan, I couldn't add him, so he has his own separate one (but we have the same company). We don't have a joint bank account because my bank wouldn't allow it unless he had his green card or a utility bill. He has been going to an online university to get his degree while waiting.

Here is what we plan to get together to show as proof of bonafide marriage.

Marriage certificate

Passports

Birth Certificates

Tax returns (we filed jointly)

SSN Cards (with my married name)

Health Insurance Bills (Both of ours with same address)

Credit Card (Added hubby as authorized user on my account)

Affidavit letter from my mom that we both live with her

Wedding Photo Book

Wedding Stuff  (Invitations, cards offering congratulations on wedding , 1st Anniversary)

Chat logs and photos

Film diary (hubby and I watch a film every night together and record our rating)

Affidavit of support (do I have to fill out a new one?)

Letter of employment

Last 6 months of payslips

W2 2020

K1 + AOS applications

Hubby's medical

Hubby's Vaccination records

Are we missing anything else? Because of covid, we haven't gone on a honeymoon or have any planned vacations for the future until we are both fully vaccinated, so we're a bit nervous that we don't have enough evidence. Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Get a statement from your mother that you are both living with her and using her mobile service plan.

There are banks that won’t discriminate against your husband.  Get a joint account.

Joint Financial and property documents would add a lot to your case.

Even with seperate bank and investment accounts, you can designate each other's as beneficiaries.

Will, living will, health Proxy?

Driver's licence or other state ID showing same address?

If your husband has a SSN, he can get a joint bank account ...  Id think that the refusing to add him to your account due to status would be discrimination.

Another thing you could do is save some mail such as bills to show a shared address, IDd with the same address would be best.  As well fill out the emergency contact info in your passport with each others info.

If you have a 401k, stocks, life insurance, Get a copy of the beneficiaries for all accounts if he is listed as the beneficiary.

I do think that joint bank account would be significant in your case.

No reason why your husband cannot be added to a bank account. He has an SSN. Go find a bank that wants your business, financial co-mingling is important.

Get wills done.

I'd encourage you to sort out the health insurance in the future. From personal experience I also had a grandfathered plan. It was cheaper (but yes still expensive) to get a new plan for the two of us in the long run.
