We went to an infopass appt last Tuesday to originally find out about our EAD. We looked online that morning and saw that the EAD was approved (took 95 days). Within 30 minutes of getting that email, our senator's office called to let us know that the EAD was approved. I feel VERY LUCKY to have such a great contact at that office who is very efficient in following through with our inquiries.

We decided to go ahead and go to the infopass appt to ask about our AOS and why we haven't been transferred or received and interview date and to ask about an emergency AP (my husband's mother is having major surgery). What a mistake THAT was!

First of all, the *security officer* at the door kept looking through my husband's passport. After seeing he had written, A#, on the paper in front of him, I said that he doesn't have an A#. He just had this blank look on his face.

We sat down to talk to the lady at the desk with the security guard seated just behind us. We asked about the emergency AP and she told us that they no longer issue you them the same day. We have to mail the papers and it takes about 2 weeks.

I asked about the AOS and if we are in name checks. She said that we are still in processing at Missouri. I asked about the process of name checks and that it seemed that our case was taking quite a bit longer and we hadn't received any notice of our case being transferred or being sent a date for an interview. She laughed and said that NO ONE gets their AOS approved without an interview. I told her that I knew of 5 cases in Iowa and that 3 of those had been transferred to CSC. She laughed again and said that that isn't even possible. She went on to say how rediculous that was and to just think about the terrorists! (WHAT? ) I explained that there are 100's of cases that get transferred. I told her that Senator's Harkin's office had told me that it looked like we were going to be transferred. She again was laughing and behind me the *security officer* mockingly said (who was having a fun time mocking us the entire time) well I guess they know more about immigration than immigration does!

FINALLY another person walks in and the lady we were talking to asked her if she had ever heard of any AOS cases being transferred to CSC. THANK GOD she said Oh Yes and went on to explain that they are trying to streamline the process and went on to confirm several other things I had said that she was laughing at. Note: The *security guard* said nothing more after this.

They didn't give any information that we didn't already know (except proving that they are incompetent idiots). In fact it seemed like she had more information when she was looking on her computer screen but wasn't willing to give any more information than she had to.

We left feeling completely frustrated and p$ssed off! It took everything I had to leave without going into a rant at the complete unprofessionalism and incompetence of that office. As you can see, it's been a week and it still bothers me enough to post about it now.

The longer I go through this immigration process the more concerned I am of the security of our country.

Egads... well, one comfort that can be drawn, is that the misinformation service certainly lives up to its name.

Very sorry to hear your experience there and happy to know it's over. Here's hoping that you receive the EAD in the mail without delay.

It sounds very much to me, that the security guard and the info pass representative (if she can even be called that) have had a nice helping of ignoramus pie that day. Be well.

Thank you - we are very happy to have the EAD! The infopass appt experience put a damper on our excitement with the EAD approval.

I would write down the person's name who met with you.

Perhaps one idea would be to write a letter commenting about how badly they smelled like alcohol, and that indeed you are very concerned about the security of our country because of this.

You are still well within the normal processing time for AOS..... so I am amazed that you feel you should have been transfered or had an interview letter by now and have involved your congressman this early in the process.... you only filed at the end of march....

Kez

I am very aware that I am still in the normal processing time for AOS. I know that there are others that are still waiting for years after filing. I am also aware that there are many (MOST) that have their transfers or interview dates within 6 weeks (mostly within 1 month) of filing. In that regard I DO feel that we should have had an interview date or transfer by now. If you look at the ones that have filed from February until now, you will see that it is unusual to not have an interview date or transfer by now.

If I have to wait one more week or 5 more years, I still want to know as much information as I can as the process goes along.

I agree with Kezzie - I think you're being a little hasty here!

My AOS was not atypical, and it took me just under the 90 days to get my EAD (a similar timeframe to you), about 5 months to receive notice of an interview, and 7 months to actually get to the interview date. If anything, my AOS was relatively quick, being that I went through Vermont.

Remember also that there's absolutely no guarantee of a transfer to CSC. Just because you (and your congressperson) feel that you should be approved without an interview doesn't mean that USCIS will agree.

Don't panic - it will get there in its own sweet time and you really haven't been waiting long enough to get angsty about it.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

I understand that you are responding to me being 'hasty' and 'angsty' but I want to really thank you for telling me about your AOS experience. I have spent a lot of time looking at timelines and posting to find out if there are others that waited longer than 6 weeks to get an interview date or a transfer and now you are the first that I've seen! It's nice to know that even though it is uncommon (and over the past few months it is uncommon) you were successful. It's nice to know that I'm not alone.

I'm not sure why it sounded like I felt that I would be approved without an interview. I would rather NOT be transferred and have an interview.

The purpose of my post was to share my infopass experience. What I found amazing, hasty and angsty was the attitude of the infopass lady and the security officer and their lack of knowledge of the AOS process.

First of all, the *security officer* at the door kept looking through my husband's passport. After seeing he had written, A#, on the paper in front of him, I said that he doesn't have an A#. He just had this blank look on his face.

Why does your husband not have an A#? If he's applied for AOS he should have one.

Testing my knowledge for AOS from VWP

because they do not have an approved I-130 which is where the A# would come from

I thought the same, Dr_LHA. According to the OP's timeline, he came on a K-1, which means he should have an A#. It should be on his K-1 visa, mine is.

As soon as the NOA1 is recieved for I-130 you have an A-number. Its printed on the receipt notice. I.e. I-130 doesn't have to be approved for you to have an A#.
