The only thing I would add to what Charles Barkley said is that the elitist politicians are greatly assisted by many in the MSM.

Former NBA star Charles Barkley ripped the nation's political class on Saturday, saying politicians are dividing Americans along racial lines for personal gain. 

"Man, I think most white people and Black people are great people," Barkley said Saturday night during the CBS's broadcast of the NCAA men's college basketball tournament.

"I really believe that in my heart, but I think our system is set up where our politicians, whether they're Republicans or Democrats, are designed to make us not like each other so they can keep their grasp of money and power. They divide and conquer," he said.

  Yeah it shouldn't really be a big surprise that our political system boils down to the same basic concepts of human nature as every other form of government throughout human history. We are fortunate that ours has more checks and balances built in than many, but people have learned how to push the limits of those.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My fav Charles Barkley story was an incident where a 5'2" drunk assaulted Barkley twice with a glass of water. The second time Barkley wrestled his foe away from the cop and chucked him out of a plate glass window.

 

Fortunately the man escaped with a minor laceration but Barkley had to be booked and appear before a judge. 

 

"Do you have any regrets?" Asked the judge. "Yes, I regret the bar was not on the second floor"
