How long does it take to get a receipt for filing I 485

https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-lockbox-updates "As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, an increase in filings, current postal service volume and other external factors, you may experience a delay of four to six weeks in receiving your receipt notice after properly filing an application or petition with a USCIS lockbox. These delays will not affect the receipt date which is determined pursuant to 8 C.F.R. 103.2(a)(7). Delays may vary among form types and lockbox locations."

Haha, January it is then! I thought it was early Feb - I've slept several times since then though 😆. I did my biometrics in February, so January would make sense 🤷‍♀️.

I was told 3 months for a K1 since it's an immigrant visa to be adjusted. I will use the help of my congress representative. Filing adjustment if status in NYC should be no more than three months for a K1 and working papers should be sorted soon. I am looking to hear from people who filed adjustment of status in Jan or Feb 2021 and what they are going through.

Thanks

Whoever told you that estimate is misinformed or has outdated information.  The latest published estimates for I-485 processing are posted here -- https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

You are free to try, but don't expect they have the authority to make your AOS process go faster.

Check this thread for updates from those who filed for AOS from K1 in NY --

AOS in NYC is taking about 15 months. I applied in Sep 2019, my interview was in Nov 2020.

If you look at the timeline in the website, it says up to 3 years. So just relax and wait, because you're not getting your AOS done in NYC in 3 months. Your biometrics will take more than that... Lol

K1 isn’t an immigrant visa it’s a non-immigrant visa. AOS is taking on average 12+months to get an interview these days.. work authority just took me exactly 365 days.

ive got no idea where your getting your information from but it’s incorrect

Average time for AOS in New York is currently 13 months. Representatives won't be able to do anything. Especially since you'll be withing normal processing time for almost 3 years. For reference, it currently takes about a month just for NOA to arrive.
