B2 visa for my friend in India

I have started a business here in USA in partnership with a friend in India. He needs to visit me once a year for our business. What would be our best option, B1 or B2. I am planning for B2. 

Are his chances for getting B2 visa any better if he applies for tourism. He is married with kids and works a full time job and we don't intend to apply for B2 for his family.

You don't apply for him.  He has to apply on his own.

 

He needs to apply under whichever best reflects his plans whilst in the US.  There is no "gaming" the system based on which one you think he has a better chance for getting.

 

Whichever way he goes, he needs to be completely honest and to prepare to strong ties to India.

You have no part in helping your friend with a B1/B2 visitor visa.

 

He has to apply on his own.  He needs to state whether tourism or taking care of his business is the purpose of his trip.
