Hi,

After passing 90 days I called and asked to talk with a Tier 2 officer for the first time, after 20 days an officer called me and said she does not see any actions on my file after interview.

Then she sent a request to my local USCIS office (LA) to provide some updates on my case and I also received an email that my inquiry was forwarded to local office.

Could someone who went through Tier-2 officer experience, please share his/her experiences in how helpful it was and how the local office will response to these types of inquiry?

Many thanks 🙏

I did not get the chance to talk to a tier 2 officer, but a tier 1 cust service rep opened a service request on my name for my local office.I got a response through email within 2 days from the local office. However, their answer stated that they are still working on the case..just a canned type email.I hope you will get an answer very quickly.

I know mine isn't that old yet, but I had my interview on 6/4. Decision was not made on the spot, so the waiting continues.

Since my filing date was 12/14/2019, I also raised an "out of processing window" SR 4 weeks back, and no response to that as well. I might raise another SR tomorrow!

Hi Anakai, welcome to the group 🙂

Your case counts too, did the officer tell you why a decision couldn't be made?

Yes, same here, tried to talk to a tier 2 officer but they never called back.  Instead I got the classic e-mail that the case is still processing, blah blah blah...

So, help me remember, what worked in your case is that you contacted the Senator, right?

Ooh no,the Congressman did not help at all..in fact he told me: " Let's give USCIS enough time to do their job - after seeing the response from them that my case is still under review." The Senator office never responded to my email.A few days before I got my approval I requested to talk to a tier 2 officer. I have been told that it would take 20 calendar days for an officer to get back to me...nobody called me,but in the meanwhile I've got the good news on my uscis online account.I am confident everyone here,on this thread, will be approved..it takes time unfortunately.

I was told that finger prints have likely expired and they need to re-run them. Which could be true, since fingerprint and FBI name check results are only valid for 15months from the time they are sent to USCIS and I was over that timeline for sure.

But I do have doubts on that reasoning, since there are folks which have waited longer than me and they were approved on the same day, unless their backgrounds checks were rerun before the interview itself.

I just received an email from USCIS that says: "We are still reviewing your case. The case is in final processing. We will mail you a notice when we make a decision." what do you guys think? Is it a good update or a generic response?

Many thanks

It sounds like pretty much every update I ever received from USCIS or the Congressional checks.

Interesting. Because the response that a couple of my friends got from USCIS was in different format (similar to what Royandme shared before which starts with "USCIS systems indicate that you appeared for your naturalization interview on .... ").

It seems you are waiting for almost 15 months after interview! May I ask what steps you took to follow up with USCIS reagrds your pending case what was the result? Also, have you ever thought on suing USCIS since it took so long for you?

Thanks

I've actually been waiting 17 months since the interview!

Each communication I received has been some variation on a bland generic response, almost like they have a standard set of replies, and they just throw whatever random one they feel like at the time.

I've done all the usual things (out of processing request, emailing, calling, representative, senators, ombudsman), suing was going to be my last resort. I'm not in any urgent need to become a citizen, so I'll just wait it out for now.

Hearty Congratulations.

I had my N-400 interview done on 06th January, 2021. The lady who interviewed me gave me the N-652 FORM in which she noted that my application is being recommended for approval.

The very next day on 07th January I got an email from USCIS saying that an action has been taken on my case and since then there has been no update.

But my USCIS online account - as of today - shows "Estimated time until case decision: approx 1 day".

Based on your experience do you think this is good news?

Also can you please share how did you get hold of a tier 1 customer service representative? I called the 1(800) 375-5283 and it led me straight to a computerized voice. I was never able to get hold of an actual officer.

I would really welcome your inputs.

Thank you.

The day after the approximate time until case decision went to 0 days on my uscis account, this approximate time said:"We are taking longer than expected" and the time changed back to 6 months. But 3 days later after that I got an email that an action has been taken on my account. When I logged in,in the case history I could see that I am in line for oath scheduling.I think you are very close to a decision too.

When I called the customer service center I said "technical issue" and I got connected to a live representative.Good luck !

Just when I thought I was done with this... back to the waiting game

I'll add to the list, did the interview today and it went well. I got handed the form saying a decision cannot yet be made about your case. The IO didn't seem entirely helpful probably because she didn't know either. She just said to wait for a letter in the mail, and that she couldn't say how long the wait would be.

N-400 Application for Naturalization

Day    00 - 08/31/20 - Submitted online N-400 application. ROC still pending. Requested combo interview.

Day    01 - 09/01/20 - NOA received online. Status says biometrics appt letter will be sent. (PD 08/31/20)

Day  141 - 01/20/21 - Biometrics reuse letter

Day  233 - 04/22/21 - ROC approved, no news on N-400

Day  288 - 06/18/21 - Interview scheduled

Day  332 - 07/30/21 - Successful interview. No decision yet.

Day 758  - 09/28/22 - Oath ceremony will be scheduled

Day 870 - 01/18/23 - Oath ceremony complete

Thanks a lot for your response.

Do you think your phone call with the USCIS representative sped up the case?

my immigration lawyer told me: if u sued USCIS ,

USCIS will take out what your submitted whole-datas

found one different they will deny your application.

Unless, you are very confident and there is nothing wrong with it,

I hope good news coming soon for any one.

No, I dont think so.In fact I asked for a tier 2 officer and they told me an officer would contact me within 20 days, but nobody contacted me.They sent me an email 2 days ago telling me that the system shows that I was already naturalized and they closed the inquiry case.

But you have nothing to lose by contacting them..it might help.
