I am petitioning (I-130) for my mother as a US citizen. My birth certificate is in a different language and I have a translated copy which was translated in my country, Bangladesh. Am I able to use the translation which was done outside of US? Or do I need to get it translated by someone who is in the US and add the USCIS certification statement along with it? Has anyone ever sent a birth certificate translation which was done in another country?

My mother has just the translated copy (also done in my country the same time mine was done), will that work as well?

You can use the translation as long as it's accompanied by a signed statement in English from the translator that he/she is competent in English and the foreign language and the translation is accurate.

Here is an example of what is required;

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________

The translation was done back in 2012. Can I still type up the certified statement using the old date and info? But does it have to be a hand-written signature?

It has to be the original translator's hand-written signature.  It can not be the signature of another person.
