Hello! I will be mailing my AOS packet end of this month. I noticed that Form I-944 is missing on the AOS checklist posted by @Sarge2155. Just want to confirm, is Form I-944 (declaration of self sufficient) still needed? Thank you! :)

It is not needed for now, but to ease your mind go to USCIS website and read about it there. Things have been known to change over night!

@Jackie1011 - as noted above, do not include the i-944.  It has been discontinued.  Link for current information about it:

You absolutely did it right including getting your card in your married name. They really took care of you. We could not get my wife's card in the married name  and we had to wait until EAD/GC.

Just an update 😅 no SSN still. Latest activity on SAVE is April 7th. No answers from SSA in Amarillo but that DHS is the hold up. Called DHS  and they were not helpful at all no info. But the Amarillo SSA did say if nothing by end of April call them again.

I-94 expires today. 😅

and of course counting down the weeks looking out for a NOA1 in the meantime in the next 4 weeks I hope 😂

What does the status on the SAVE system say? If it says returned to requesting agency (something like that) your card should be forth coming.

Unfortunately I have multiple dates so I’m not sure as to what’s going on. But April 7th was the most recent search.

They all say returned to Maryland. I’ve added a picture of my SAVE screen for reference. I don’t understand what’s going on 😅

Yes thats the status case returned to agency. That means they have finished processing and sent your case back to the requesting agency. You should be good. It still takes awhile for the SSA to send your card. It took us awhile too over three weeks if I remember correctly. You are good I think. Look down at the legend see the check mark?

Lol so I got down to the bottom of it today... finally someone told me my documents didn’t go through and I have to go back in to resubmit.

(back story, power went out before she could submit but she wrote everything down said she’d call if they didn’t go through. And obviously she didn’t call haha I had no idea.)

and even though I’ve been calling weekly this is the first time some one has told me I need to come in 🤦🏼‍♀️

on a call back list for an appointment again and apparently they said hopefully the I-94 won’t be an issue since I was in back in March. Loool

🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

I don’t get it because everything has a check

Mark haha 😂 but guess we’ll see!

Hi everyone! We filed our AOS packet yesterday! We started down the K-1 pathway a year ago, filed the I-129F in June. However, things changed a bit when the fiancé came for a visit that then got extended and we threw caution to the wind and we decided to just marry and stay. One more day is never guaranteed and waiting a year for permission to be together after we were already willing and able to just be together now, we decided to change courses. A little nervous about having married just about 35 days after arrival, but we have a compelling story and it really was a legitimate change in plans.

Either way, we're incredibly happy and so excited to have delivered he AOS packet to USPS yesterday! I filed the I-130 online on Monday night and the online system generated essentially an NOA1 in two or three hours. Good luck to all of us!

For the required documents for form I-765, the instruction stated that "A copy of your last EAD (front and back). If you were not previously issued an EAD, you must submit a copy of a government-issued identity document (such as a passport) showing your picture, name, and date of birth; a birth certificate with photo ID; a visa issued by a foreign consulate; or a national ID document with photo and/or fingerprint. The identity document photocopy must clearly show your facial features and contain your biographical information." Does that mean, I only need to provide the copy of my passport with biographical page. not both of copy of passport and a visa issued by a foreign consulate?

You can print your i-94 from here.  Go to "get most recent i-94."  It's valid for 90 days.  You should also have a stamp in your passport showing that expiration date.

Is it better to wait 2 weeks after arrival or apply sooner?

apply sooner. SS offices require appointments and depending on where youre at, the schedule can be too far out so better call soon to apply for SSN.
