Quick update on my case, my i485 was approved today. so happy that this process is over!

application was sent on April 29th. I would highly recommend contacting ombudsman office. I contacted them for receipt notices and then again for interview, both times, the response was positive!

Update on my case,

yesterday my case changed from interview cancelled to ready to be scheduled to “scheduled”.

We’re waiting for the notice to find out the date but it roughly took just over 2 months for a reschedule and that included a rescheduling request I made about 3-4 weeks ago.

Can you contact on ombudsman if your case is still within normal processing time?

Hi all. My interview is coming up in 3 weeks. Quick question to all who have already done their interview; did you have to take a new I-864 to the interview? When we initially sent the paperwork, we only used my spouse’s income on the form I-864.  But now that I am working and our income has updated, do we have to include a new I-864, or the old one is okay? Thanks.

Interview today in OKC, approved on the spot! Super easy we weren’t even asked any questions 😂 our officer just confirmed everything and said congrats! You’re walking out a permanent resident!

Good luck everyone!

Good news here! My green card has been approved! We had the interview today at San Antonio field office. The officer was really nice and didn’t ask a lot of questions either. He first went through my husbands I-130, asked him a few basic questions that were already on the form. Then he went through the I-485 with me. Then he asked if we had any joint documents. At this point I gladly pulled out my briefcase that I had a bunch of documents stacked in. The guy was really impressed, he even stopped me from giving him the documents, he jokingly said it was too much lol. We were in the office with him for approximately 15 minutes. He said he’d let us know if he needs any more documents (RFEs). Our case wasn’t approved right on the spot, but we were confident all went well. A few hours later, my case status updated to “Card being produced!” I thank God for making all this possible. And I’m wishing everyone here who’s still in the process all the best.

An update for fellow April filers...we had our interview today. The interview was quick and casual, although we prepared a lot for it. Our officer asked us some questions to confirm from the form followed by some history of how we met and how many times ( we are adjusting from K-1). She asked to see photo ids and passport. Then asked for any evidence we have to prove our relationship. We told her we had originals and copies, she asked to see copies only.

We provided joint health insurance, work beneficiary confirmation, lease page showing husband as occupant, joint bank account statement, airline ticket from a trip we took, Airbnb reservation, and photos.

She kept all the copies. Then said we were done and that she doesn't need anything else from us. She would review and then update status.

We left all smiles and hugs. We walked out of the building checked the status no change. Walked about 10 minutes to the train stop and checked again, this time it was updated to " New card being produced".

Yaaaay! And just like that we are hopefully done for the next two years!

Then repeat for ROC! Good luck all! This group has been a major morale support.

Huzzah! We have an interview scheduled for April 18! We called the (mis)information phone number to find out the interview date/time because we have had mailing issues and we wanted to make sure we were aware well in advance when the appointment would be.

The work permit has still not been adjudicated and so I asked if that will be paused since the I-485 interview is scheduled. The support agent said no, they’ll continue processing because it will likely be a couple months after the interview before a decision is made on the greencard.

does that sound right?! I keep seeing y’all say approved right in the interview.

we’re so ready to be complete with this process, but if nothing else I really want to file our joint tax return and we’re waiting on an SSN to do that unless we really have to pay an accepting agent to apply for an ITIN (we’re adjusting from a B visa, couldn’t have gotten a SSN upon arrival).

friendly thoughts/suggestions?

Three weeks to go before the I-485 interview. Just need medical exam and awaiting a couple of affidavits, though those are not super important we know. Hopefully everything is assembled and ready to go! Still would like that work permit approved first, though. Day 332 and counting.

Medical is later today. We chose not to do the medical before initial submission because we both didn’t want the possibility of it expiring and there were vaccines that were still needed and we don’t have access to pediatric records. So we chose to wait until we had an interview scheduled. In our area it was not difficult to get a same day appointment for the initial visit and the final with an appropriate time before the interview.

Today, after a full year from when I submitted my application, I received a RFE. The ridiculous part is that they say in the letter that I’ve sent what they wanted but it’s not sufficient because it was relevant to the year prior, and not for the year 2021..how was I supposed to have documents for the year 2021 when I filed at the beginning of the year 2021? This is taking way too long and I’m getting upset over it…

Not to mention they sent the letter for my biometrics at the wrong address even if I had done my due diligence and updated it on their website, and I couldn’t attend the appointment because the letter came after the scheduled date…It was November 2021. I finally had my biometrics rescheduled in February 2022…

I’m so over this whole process, it’s been years of uncertainties and wasted time and money.

We had the AOS interview today in Portland, OR. The IO was really nice, easy to talk with and things went really smooth. Maybe a half hour for the interview in total. Unfortunately we couldn’t be approved on the spot. We really wanted that I-551 stamp today because I think USCIS lost the I-765 application, but about 15 minutes after we left the beep from our case tracker apps told us that the new card was being produced! Success!

next steps for us is to get an infopass appointment to get that stamp and then apply for a SSN. but that’s tomorrow. Today we are just happy that the green card is on the way and that David is a legal permanent resident (conditionally.. and without proof of such 🤣)!
