Hello, about the part where it asks that if I've ever been part of an association and organization. Between 2013 and 2014 I was in an association of charity. We would help kids with their educational needs. Like giving them supplies they needed. Also the association is also known as human rights in my country. Is that a negative thing for me? Also at work I'm union member, will these 2 effect me negatively? Thanks

Negative or not, you are required to disclose.

But I can't imagine either of those would have a negative impact at all.

I had my interview last week.

I spent a year in China volunteering with a non-profit helping orphaned children with various medical conditions. I disclosed this and in the interview she asked for a brief description of what I did and as soon as I said 'volunteered' and 'charity' she moved on with a smile. I was a little concerned about having spent time in China but it was no problem at all.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Mine was the same. They had courses for kids and adults. Especially on art. So I was taking acting classes and we were helping kids in need. Also they had signs about civil rights there. So I don't know if it is bad thing for uscis..

It is what it is. We have to declare such things. Whether USCIS agrees with the cause or not.

Not to take the thread over, but do gym memberships count? Sounds like a stupid question, and I can't imagine that they would, but they are technically and organization that you are a member of. What do you all think?

Gym memberships, Costco memberships, Amazon prime memberships, Kroger memberships, United MileagePlus memberships, Marriot bonvoy memberships, American Exoress card memberships, hair club for men memberships, AMC stubs memberships do not count.

Hello all again! I just remembered something that I can't even remember that I was a member of this association on paper or not. Also I have cut my ties after few months of being part of it.. So now I'm worried what if I still am on paper and IO says that I'm still member? I tried to put same dates that I put on my i485 application. And can't remember at all. What should I do now?

Don’t worry about it.

i forgot to add a membership in my N400. The AO reminded me that I had entered it in my AOS application and so she added it to my N400 during the interview. In any case, the AO will have your AOS application to hand to make any corrections required to your N400.
