Debating to withdraw and just go with marriage visa 😭😢🥺 not sure what’s the best now that we April filers are so close

also there’s absolutely ZERO updates from my group yesterday and today as well…

Ive thought about this too all the time but I think at the end of the day, you're extremely close.  And with the luck one would probably get after switching, youd get a slower cr1 service center or itd swap to one and you'd have to wait another 10+ months just for noa2 again.

I can see it being worth it if you cant wait for work authorization

I agree. Not to mention it takes time to plan and get married. And you'd likely not getting the type of ceremony you want.

Agree as well. To keep your mind off, you could get stuff ready beforehand for DS-160 and future process for AOS. Many more applications and evidence to gather. Don't lose hope!!

Is going with marriage visa faster??

Can I know why you’re considering marriage visa if you don’t mind?

Im on the same page. I’m also an April filer.

My group also only approves 1 case a day if not none:(

Does anyone know the fastest way to be able to work in the states for k-1 filers??

Traditionally no. But now yes just because how delayed the processsing for fiancé visa has been due to “COVID”. If I had known that the processing times for fiancé visa would be over 12 months I would’ve gone for marriage visa without a thought. Since we have already been waiting this long, the decision is even more difficult but I know for one thing that if I switch and do marriage visa now my fiancé would get his green card faster than waiting for fiancé visa (who knows when USCIS will process it tbh)… they are making all our lives miserable. They are not processing cases chronologically and kept delaying and prolonging processing times are making the situation more frustrating and making me feeling more hopeless. I have also heard fiancé visa interviews are given the least priority. Interviews for immediate family members aka spouses are given more priority.

They have not touched my group’s range since last Friday May 13…😢🫠

and even on May 13 only 1 action in my group. I don’t think any countries in the world take this long to process a spouse/partner visa

I'm guessing your group is 76000. I think it's mainly because they still have a lot of cases to process in 73000-75500 range. Those groups are all under 50% completed.

Certainly frustrating to see 76500-77500 to have so much activity though (44%, 87%, 60% completed respectively). I'm in a similar boat. Hopefully they will return to our groups before moving on to the later ranges i.e 78000+

I’m in the 76500 range! so same boat as 76000 which totally got looked over. They jumped to process so much of 77000+ these few days. Very frustrating When they already have more percentage of cases processed. 76500 actually didn’t get any love at all :(

Anxiously waiting

fingers crossed for us. Is at least nice to see and talk to you all here that we can relate to

I feel you:(

Doesn’t marriage visa also take about 12 months now?

We have waited for over a year now and to reapply for a different visa to wait even longer is a difficult decision:(

When I found out how long it’s taking for people to get their employment authorization, I really thought about switching to marriage visa too, but we just don’t want to put our lives on hold any longer than we already have:(

I’m sorry about your case not being touched.. I know how disappointing to see that everyday..
My hope is that we can probably receive NOA2 maybe by the end of June.
We have been too generous about time with USCIS but let’s keep our hopes up!

They can. Thats where the risk comes in. You CAN get lucky and get noa2 in 5 but its a gamble. A gamble that could be worth it if

- 8+ months unable to work, leave the country, and in some states drive is a deal-breaker for the beneficiary or would lead to hardship

- The embassy has a massive line for k1 interviews that is faster for cr1

There's probably other benefits too but these are the biggest ones I feel.

if it wasn't for border closures/ travel bans / travel restrictions I would've done the spousal route with my fiance, k1 is feeling like a scam and was to me even back then.

Ah okay, 76500 happens to be the biggest group of the bunch (256 k1 cases). It actually 70 approvals which is decent compared to the rest of the groups but i feel your pain. It's just both 76000 / 76500 being ignored for the past week also.

Speaking of withdrawals. May has 5 updates today and 4 of them are withdrawals 😢

Hi! I just found this group. My fiancé and I applied 4/29/2021 and so far nothing. I can't believe the website said 4-6 months when I applied. I got so nervous I wouldn't have time to plan the wedding or get a dress, that I ran out and bought a dress that week (they can take 4 months to arrive). HA! What a fool I was. I'm so frustrated with all of this. We really thought we'd have heard something by now. I saw on the message boards that people were saying that visas were faster at the height of the pandemic- please remember that many groups were banned from applying. My fiancé is Iranian, we would not have been able to apply under the Trump ban. We had friends that were rejected immediately because of their nationality. They're now waiting for appeals- which also take forever.

Anyway, glad to see I'm not the only one waiting. I've been very nervous because of his nationality. I don't want to wait this long just for a rejection because of where he's from . My receipt number ends with 80351.. I don't even think we're part of the list yet.. sigh

People mention slower than the height of the pandemic to show that what is currently going on; the slowest approvals have taken in a decade

are not based off of the pandemic like they claim and it gets categorized by who is in charge at the time

I don't think it was at all to discuss which party is best or that things were better then with the bans (Which was entirely unjust but was not in the way we were referring to the difference in timeline alone.), but mainly just that in the worst of covid, which had small lockdowns and other measures, was still considerably faster than now.

Yeah that the position that my fiance and I are in. We decided that if we don't hear back anything by the time I visit in July, we are just going to just go ahead and get married. Luckily we are both ethnically from the same country, so its a simple process for us. But I found out that if I wasn't duo citizen I would have to get prior approval which could  take one -two month to hear back (so always check the country rules if you decide to go that route.) I looked at the processing time, and it seems that they are processing marriage visas at faster rate then K1 visas, so like @MissLadyRae anywhere from 5-12 months. Ive also seen a lot of approvals less then 5 months depending if you got lucky and was processed in the Nebraska Center.

After going through everything we really don't want to wait another year for him to be able to work, travel, and other things. And have to deal with the stress of that.
