My mistake, I should have clarified my statement. I meant they weren't moving in the same numbers. Nope never been to China, only Hong Kong😉

Well it's hard to freeze funds if some of those are in paper, gold or something else of value. If the currency is all digital and you need a loaf of bread and your accounts are frozen/restricted, good luck. If you have cash on hand you can still go buy that loaf of bread.

I would never consider any of those cites to visit, they aren't representative of most of the US and the lifestyles of middle America. I'll add Shanghai to that list. I suspect Shanghai doesn't represent how most Chinese citizens live.

Just following your lead. Detected a bit of America bashing, which is odd considering people on this site are trying to get to the US. Has to make you wonder why. Of course America has flaws, every country, everything and everyone does.

Haha, I'll leave that one alone because the reason for that is pretty evident.

Gee, who would have figured the "R" word would pop up. I am shocked!!

Relax mate :). It ok no US bashing here only criticisms of broken immigration Sistem :). No need to get upset.

Shanghai is not only Chinese city that is amazing, check out following : Chengdu, Dalian, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Chongqing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen :D they all will leave you in awe .

Also, we are here on US immigration forum, of course we are discussing US immigration :D it is literally topic of entire forum. Go to echinacities and other dedicated forums (Facebook groops) to see how many people a looking for job in China, you will be amazed.

Also manufacturing came here for cheap labor, but this is past now :). Manufacturing is here due to amazing infrastructure and highly capable workforce. Port of Shanghai is larger than all US ports combined :D. Actually all US ports combined wouldn't be in top 5 ports in China :D. 40% of world ships is beeing bult here :D even Mitch McConnell(it his wifes company) shipping company is building ship's in China :D. You know why they have such great infrastructure? I will leave you to think about it :)

and yes "R" word, i don't know how else to describe how many westerns see that west is somehow superior.

We should really get back to topic :) no point on discussing China vs US, when entire topic of forum US immigration (which is clearly utterly broken)

Good luck DSBeijing, we are waiting for China visa too.

Just want to emphasize that this quote is referring to H1B visas and the country quota system, where people with work visas (H1b) from China, India and Mexico have like a decade waiting time on converting their work visa to a green card.  There is a limit on work visa>green card from each country, and Not other Indian or Chinese citizens waiting a crazy amount of time to

To be fair, the American immigration system is completely broken, because about half the population wants to curtail immigration and half want to completely expand it, so the result is that things are just statically staying the same and resulting in no change at all, so things aren't being fixed.  But we still do have a working immigration system and it is still possible to immigrate here, and the immigration laws aren't enforced much at all so many people do it illegally.

To be fair, it's not even possible to immigrate to China.  People largely aren't moving from USA to China in any sort of numbers, because it's basically impossible to do so.  You can't even cross the border into China now from the USA and most other countries right now.  It's a nice place to live in terms of decent disposable income.  They have really modern cities in China that are very advanced in a technological way, but it's still a very authoritarian country with a difficult language barrier where the government controls things strictly and people from western countries largely aren't interested in immigrating there anytime soon and wouldn't really be allowed to if they wanted to.

Just my perspective as an American/Chinese couple that had to decide which country to live in.

Hi, it is possible, there is huge number of foreigners here. I my self am foreigner, my fiance too (she is American). In large tech hubs, there is plenty foreigners.

And honestly, US is ok but issues are mounting, school shootings, general lack of safety, broken school system, opioid epidemic and many more. I criticize US not because i want to bash it, but to improve it.

I am just annoyed but the prior poster, who thinks that rest of the world is some backwards place, when in many cases this cannot be further from the truth.

And yes China has authoritarian government, but it is not North Korea. But to be honest, NSA spys on everyone in USA.

America is the best country in the world, i am guessing that is why we are trying our best to be in America, so please don’t complain. America gaves us everything we are looking for. We should thank America for giving us the opportunity. I am also immigrant and I do appreciate what america gave it to me!!

Haha, when did I say the rest of the world is a backwards place? You are projecting!

But wait, YOU were talking about the "superior" aspects of China...does that mean you are racist? That kind of silly thinking goes both ways if that's the logic you wish to apply.

Sorry buddy, but there is very little that will leave me in "awe", concrete, glass and steel doesn't really move my needle. But if it makes you happy then have at it😁

Exactly my point, members of the US corrupt government working with the Chinese corrupt government, not exactly a selling point for either side. I wouldn't really put McConnell up on a pedestal for that, it is a conflict of interest, almost like having a son making deals with Ukraine and China, but I don't know who that could possibly involve😉

100% agree with you, hoping to share the American dream with my fiance when the K1 process is all said and done. Every country has it's beauty and it's faults, but very few can provide the opportunity that the US offers. Good luck to you.

People, let's just focus why we are here.  We want to be with our loved ones.  That's it.

I think all the emotions here boils to one thing... frustration.  I'm not invalidating any opinion, but I think we are going on a wrong direction.

100%. We're all frustrated and tired with the process.  I check this thread frequently in order to see updates about cases processed and related info. Let's just say my ignore list is getting very long.

I think its important to be mindful that not everyone here is going to America because they view it as ideal. Im sure a good bit of us of us did not seek out our partners to be in America. Its not like this is a group of green card diggers lol

A lot of people are moving to the US temperarily, to finish up things there and get financial stability before moving to the beneficiaries country. As well as the beneficiary getting dual citizenship so its easier to go back and forth.

I'm going to America over a place with free healthcare and better safety because my Fiancé has an attachment with his family hes unwilling to leave behind.

Nothing ever improves by ignoring the flaws and people disliking different aspects of any country, is totally okay.

So true, this is our plan as well. We're moving to the US to of course reap benefits of living in America but it's not the only place we hope to live in our lifetime. I'm hoping to get us both financially stable by the time that my fiance gets his citizenship and then we can go live in other places, travel. I was a digital nomad for a while and am looking forward to doing it again.

I always find it funny when Westerners (EU and USA) come to China:D. In many cases they think of is like it was in 1990, but in reality China is in many areas light years infornt of both EU and USA, especially anything related to digitalization, or other IT topic (example i have not used paper money for last 3 years, since everything can de done digitally, Submitting my residence permit also online, i get it finished in 5 days).

When they(Europeans and Americans) see Shanghai, they cannot believe, because Shanghai has no equal either in US or Europe (NYC and LA look like stuck in 1980 compared to Shanghai).

And I am saying this European who lived in all three places. So if you ask, why are you going to US if it is so great in China, only due to personal reasons, my fiance/wife wants to be close to her old grandparents in their last years and then to see her get married.

Crazy is that we started this process 3 of her Grandparents were alive, 4 Months ago, one of them died, today i jost got the news second grandparent died, now there is only one is left alive. We hope that at least he will survive long enough to see her get married...

She is devastated

I find it funny when a foreigner thinks China is a better place to live compare to US, because for Chinese who comes to US, he/she is not looking for conveniences, he/she is looking for freedom, human rights and equal opportunities, I believe those are more important for people to choose where they want to live(maybe not you). I am a Chinese, I suppose I know it better than you do, you are lucky you are a foreigner. I love China, but every country has it own problems, including United states. Please stop comparing.

Just put in a request to talk to a tier 2 officer for the first time. Hopefully by 30 days I'll be able to get some kind of insight into where my case is. Has anyone spoken to them? Do they help at all? How long did it take to get a call back?
