K-1 Immigrant Visa Application "Expired" while sitting at the embassy

Hello VJ Friends

Here is a situation I didn't see coming.  Sent an email to the US Embassy in Santo Domingo last week to check on our K-1 visa status.  Time frame history our application has been sitting at the embassy since Feb.2020 then COVID shut down.  MRV fees paid and the DS-160 form was to be sent in right at shut down. It could not be forwarded.  I have been in contact with the embassy throughout the shut down and even filed for an extension before expiration the first six months.  So this is what happened.  The response from the embassy on the email I sent them.  "Your case has been updated , please log into your account to view the details". I did and I was shocked.  It said EXPIRED. In the description it basically says I have been notified that your visa was cancelled  for failure to pursue our immigrant visa within a year due circumstances beyond our control.  Then since I failed to do so the record of our registration and any petition approved HAVE BEEN DESTROYED.  Then if i still have interest in obtaining an immigrant visa contact (DHS) and (USCIS) regarding filing a new immigrant visa.  I am so stressed out trying to get a response from the embassy and or the NVC to find out how this could happen when I have been in as much communication as other visa applicants.  And the visa could not proceed due to embassy shut downs.  (Out of my Control).  I have sent new emails and waiting for new responses.  Please give us some advice and encouragement on our situation.

This is standard.   Nothing has happened to your petition

Thanks if this notification is standard wow i'd hate to be on their bad side.  Still I would like to have proof you know.

If you follow other threads you will soon learn that you are not alone.  Every i129f approved before December are in exactly the same situation with ceac status reporting expired.

YMMV
