It is not just celebrities.  Quite a few of the folks in DC want to be in that group, just see how many times they try to get on the news shows.  Otherwise, I agree, no one, a celebrity, sports star, or politician is worth worshiping.

But that's just it NB. It is a common myth that Reagan was not a politician. He was. He knew politics very well, he was a governor. He knew about losing and winning. He knew about selling things to people. He understood the importance of communication. His acting skill could tell him how to be effective with showing the right emotions. He knew how to surround himself with valuable people that could offer good guidance. If he did not have higher ambitions, he could have likely easily won as a senator.

 

To be a president you need more than just that experience though. Soul and character matters. He had military experience too. He knew about service and charity. He might not have been well enough to see action, but he had the discipline and training of the military to draw from. He had deep faith and there is no doubt he believed in it. He hated fascism and racism. He had experiences from his childhood of being from modest means and remaining humble. And yes he made mistakes even though he is considered a good president today, but I'd say he certainly knew when to admit it.

 

We often tell our children that maybe they can someday be president. That anyone can be a leader. To be a leader takes experience, discipline, drive, morals and much more.

    I would need some odds to take that bet. It will be an accomplishment of monumental incompetence if Biden is worse than Trump. Won't be easy without trying, but time will tell.
