   The "allegation" he is under investigation for by the justice department is sex trafficking involving a minor. So yeah, there is something wrong with that. It will be reflected in the large number of years he spends in prison if found guilty.

Yes. I think if I found out my daughter was 'dating' being trafficked by a 30+ year old man, I'd be hauling out a shotgun on someone's backside.

To be fair, I think this was supposed to have happened a couple of years ago. So around 35-36. 

 

I'm turning 36 in about a month and a half. The idea of dating a child of 17 is repulsive to me. As it should be.

Any guy that I have elected to run my country that is 40 and has such poor morals and decision making that he would consort with a 17 year old is not someone that I want running my county, because he is a sleaze ball

Technically, if an 18/19 year old takes their 16/17 year old boyfriend/girlfriend across state lines it would be the same thing.  Do we even know for sure if the woman in question was 17 at the time?  I mean the story was broken in the NYTimes.

A woman is not 17. If she was 17, she was a girl. Words mean things. 

 

And yes, it would mean the same thing. By that token my high school boyfriend could have been prosecuted for child trafficking when I flew out with him on a family vacation to Cape Cod. There is a big difference between that and a 35 or 36 year old man flying a 17 year old girl across state lines. 

 

What's getting lost here is that there was an investigation that has been going on for at least 6 months into Gaetz being a child sex trafficker, an investigation that started under the previous administration and which Bill Barr specifically instructed the DOJ to continue after he left. This isn't 12 Angry Democrats here. This is serious business and it demands we treat it seriously. With an open mind of course, but seeing that these are devastating allegations. That Barr opened this investigation and it's still going means something.

Not really any difference with respect to the law.  I agree, a 30ish dating someone 17/18 can look very gross at least in our society.  As to the investigation, let it play out, and if he is found guilty, he can serve his time.  I am a little surprised it is taking so long though, verifying the age of the parties and determining if they were on an airline manifest should not be hard to do.
