I am kind of like you. A shot record to travel is no biggie to me

Heck, immigrants wanting to come to the US have to have a vaccination record (unless they go through the waiver process).

Wouldn't 99% kind of sort of be the vast majority?

Hopefully herd immunity will lead to less people contracting the virus, and ultimately less people getting severe illness.

Statements about the vast majority of people being "fine" if they do contract it are misleading. The vast majority of people will recover from the acute illness. We don't know the long term health effects of the illness yet, nor do we know if it will evolve into something more serious. We do know many people have long term health issues after recovering. We don't really know the full extent of those issues yet, nor do we know the degree to which they will resolve or get worse over time.

Living with lung damage, cardiac issues, decreased kidney function, clotting disorders, neurological issues and autoimmune disease can all lead to significant morbidity and mortality. I'm not using the word "fine" to describe that scenario.

I am generally unerringly kind to Al. :) He knows what his failings are and I try not to bring them up too frequently. 👼

On the topic of vaccine passports -- I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, it would be good to know that the others around me were vaccinated, and for others to assume that of me. On the other hand, I don't like giving the government more information about myself than I strictly have to. I don't see this as a slippery slope (I think we slid down that hill well before I was born) but more of a: one more thing I gotta tell you? Really? I filled out an I-944 with my husband, what more do you need to know?

God I wish we'd held on a few more months for AOS so we didn't have to fill out and then update that form again. At least I know we can't get an RFE for messing it up.

I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere, but for us, you record all that information at the time the vaccine is administered and the state department of health has the data (and possibly the CDC is also using it).  So my thought is more along the lines of - if they already have that data, does it change anything if we get a vaccine passport out of it. Probably not much, I guess. We would have to decide if we want them to have that information or not before we actually get the vaccine.

Well a passport has all your personal  info. It records every time you leave the country and where you go. They have your background check info etc. I dont see how adding your Vac info is any more intrusive.

About like the guy who posts on FB they are not getting the vaccine because Bill Gates might use it to track you. Somehow they miss they posted that on one of the most intrusive applications ever made, on a platform that Bill Gates company more than likely wrote most of the code on, using an IP address that stores your info and location on multiple servers around the world.

As to the whole passport thing for the vaccine, I am pretty indifferent especially if it frees up international travel and eliminates the self-quarantine or testing need

The COVID Passport: Fascism at Hand

By Jay Valentine - May 3, 2021

Naomi Wolf is perfectly accurate warning that the COVID Passport is an unassuming, mild, reasonable-sounding concept that will lead to untold catastrophic civic consequences.  She is way out front, and we should all pay attention to her.  [...]
