Immunizations for i-693

Does anybody have an up-to-date list of what immunisations are needed?  I found a list of USCIS and CDC immunisation requirements but don't know which are appropriate.  Has anyone been for their medical lately?

I would like to get them through my primary care before the medical so that I have more chance of my health insurance covering them.  I know I need a mumps titer and the varicella vaccine.  I don't think I need HiB but wanted to check and unsure about pneumococcal pneumonia... any ideas?  I'm 39.

The table on the CDC website shows age related vaccine needs. Look for your age bracket. Pneumococcal is required for over 65

If my medial and interview are after March 31st, is it a problem if I didn't get a flu shot this year? It says annually but, if it's out of flu season, does it matter?  (Full disclosure: I've never had a flu shot!!!)

We interviewed in the Southern Hemisphere in august ..no flu shot needed because it was out of US flu season .. so you should be fine without it

My Dr in the UK gave me a printout with a letter that was stamped with the surgery.  But I don't know if that's necessary.  I also got that before I came in 2019.  If you have been out of the UK for more than 6 months, theoretically your files should have been sent back to the NHS headquarters and I don't know if it's possible to get any records.

Hmm - I'm not sure then, as I've been out of the UK for three years now. I do have access to my NHS (the online service), and the vaccination record was sent directly from my GP in the UK through a secure mail platform, so maybe that will be okay. I can't imagine I would need to get vaccinations again, if I have already had them.

My copy/paste is more for before the visa medical in the UK, but the shots are the same.

Here are the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:

  • Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted. The latest shot must be no longer than 10 years ago or you need a booster. In the UK they will give Revaxis which is Tetanus/diphtheria +polio. Adults don’t need polio for immigration but that’s the combo available in the UK. They don’t have a Tetanus and diphtheria only jab like Adacel given in the US.
  • MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella.  It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical.
  • Varicella - Not routinely given in the UK. A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam. They will also waive the shot in the UK for "not routinely available". That works for spouse visas but not fiancés who could get the shot after POE and go to a civil surgeon to sign off.
  • Influenza - Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31.  If your medical is not during flu season, you don't need it.

You don’t have to catch up on baby shots. Just deal with the adult requirements.

Hey!

Do you know if a print out of my vaccinations emailed from my GP in the UK will be enough evidence of having had these?

It should be ok for the civil surgeon to complete your medical form. Ask when you call for the medical appointment.
