I had hoped to travel to Vietnam for the interview,  but now that the borders have been closed, we need to reschedule!
are there better or certain days when they post openings for rescheduling? Thanks 😊

Just from my experience in April and October 2018, the embassy posted dates Friday around 12-1pm Vietnam time.  We took the first appointment we could get in April 2018.  When my son was ready to interview, we browsed for weeks before getting the date that worked for us.

I think others who have scheduled in the past few months since the embassy reopened may have more relevant advice.  Given how unpredictable the past year has been, I would avoid rescheduling.  Whatever you do, best of luck to you! - Jason

FYI - There was a thread in the Vietnam forum recently about rescheduling.  Check that thread, too.  It might be helpful.

There's no need for you to be at the CR-1 interview.  Better to go ahead with the interview than to try to reschedule.  With the giant backlog of cases, it could be difficult to reschedule.  Vietnam has not indicated when they will allow visitors to enter the country.

A friend's husband recently interviewed in HCMC and immigrated to the US.  His wife picked him up at LAX a few weeks ago.

I was in US when we got the original interview date, I had my half of the package, we hoped I could fly to VN the first week in March, then they closed the borders indefinitely, I sent the package, now we are waiting to reschedule 🤞🍀

Yes, the pandemic is ongoing.  Look at Brazil, Mexico, India, France, Germany, Italy, etc.  The US is fortunate to be a rich country which has purchased 600+ million doses for a population of 330 million.

Florida is far from back to normal.  Your COVID numbers are going up.

Vietnam has been smart.  They have no intention of reopening their borders until a significant portion of their population is vaccinated.

I know it’s far from over but if you live here, it’s like pandemic was over. Nothing is different than before COVID. Restaurants opened up months ago, 6’ distancing only at fewer restaurants. People are

back to work and on the road for the most part...the numbers are climbing but we are back to normal for the most part. We go out to eat daily and we are in Tampa area. Our business is required to go shopping and all the stores are opened at pretty much at full capacity. Wear a mask and you’re good to go. That’s why I said I forgot that we (the world) is still in a pandemic.

Count your blessings but don't get overly confident in Florida... or anywhere for that matter
