Administrative Processing can not be expedited or waived.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

We have been waiting for a Department's decision for over 14 months.....how long is too long?  what can we do?

14 months is long but I've read cases in AP for 2 or 3 years as well....Good luck.

Well, those are the facts.  The only option, other than waiting, is to file a legal writ of mandamus.  It might force them to make a decision.  However, it does not guarantee a favorable decision.  I have seen some succeed....and others fail.  If they deny the case after the writ was filed, you would be forced to start all over.....and the case would, likely, be sent to extended AP again.

What country?

Unfortunately, extended Administrative Processing is not uncommon for cases in that region of the world.

That didn't help, it made me feel worse.

lol.....    would you rather have the truth in terms of potential length of AP, or people who will placate with false reassurances?   Because VJ is full of those, too.

I do rather have the truth, this is just frustrating.    Not knowing if we have to wait 1,2 months, or another 14 months.

We are just close to 13 months; one month short of yours, being in AP. Best option is to wait. Last resort would be to file a writ of Mandamus with the help of a lawyer. Of course, I don't know all the details of your case so.

This waiting is awful, the not knowing what the final decision will be or how long it will take.

Yes it is, and it is an expected part of the process when we decide to immigrate or sponsor immigrants.
