Problem isnt really affording. Problem was to find a way to pay and now our last problem is to get back to be able to access our funds of over 100k. Also have a job waiting so we will be fine once we get there.

People pay international child support all over the world... What couldn't you figure out?   I've stayed with nomadic tribes who were able to pick up/send money at the closest "village" post office... Where were you?

Replying for my husband:

His options to pay were money orders or to get it take out straight from his paycheck. We kept calling plces and asking for help to find a way to do it from here (europe) but no one could figure it out for us and we couldnt find a way ourselfs. It has been impossible for us to go back for many reasons and we have no access to the 100k until we get back. Its pension from his late father that we have to collect. He has been in contact with the childs mother to help with whatever so he never intentionally abandoned the child support. He has still helped with everything possible. And is going to pay the Cs in full before going back since now finally you can pay online.

But he's already stated he hasn't been able to find a job?  How is it that he has a paycheck?

Yes back in the US they took it out his paycheck. He has only been unemployed here in europe. Never in America.

Just read you're in Finland. Then, he can go to a bank and ask to do an electronic transfer, or wire.  He'll need his ex bank account #, institution code, swift, etc.  She can request all this information from her bank, if she doesn't have it.

Really, there's no excuse.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Using international money transfer services can often result in lower fees - I have used Xoom, Western Union, (Transfer)Wise, and Revolut myself. Plenty of others out there. Depending on the service, there are different ways to make the payment and different ways for the receiver to get it.

But maybe the OP had a reason for not looking into these?
