They have started interviewing on a limited basis only, but have not resumed normal visa processing. Per their website, they are interviewing all immigrant visa categories, but have prioritized them.  Adoptions and then spouses and children of US citizens top the list.  The next priority is for those who had visa interviews scheduled between March 22nd and June 30th last year that were cancelled because of the embassy/consulate closure.  Those individuals should have already been contacted with a new interview date. It's clear that with more than three months of applications already at post awaiting interviews, it will be some while before they need to draw any new cases from NVC -- they have sufficient cases to interview already.

You can see their priorities on the consulate website: http://ng.usembassy.gov/visas/.

Hey,

I thought the NVC automatically sends the case to the embassy, but when I got the case number, they said they may not send it unless the embassy requests it since many embassies are closed right now.

Anyone else heard this? Thinking I may need to call them back as the Vietnam embassy isn't closed, so I'm not sure if we should do the DS-160 now or continue to bug the NVC or something else.

Help please! Thanks!

NVC stopped sending files to embassies due to Covid shutdowns in March 2020. Once a embassy resumes K1 processing they will notify NVC and request cases to be shipped. Alot of people from various embassies have been stuck at NVC since March 2020.

Hello.

I’d suggest that you try to get ahold of an officer and point out the fact that you have information that this one Embassy, which is the one you will be heading to, is not closed.

I personally think it’d be a waste of time to fill out DS-160 right now if your case still seems to be stuck with the NVC.

So how does the embassy know to request them? I thought that was what the DS-160 was for.

Are we still needing to just wait then? It shows as "At NVC" now for a week, but I have no idea how the embassy would even know it's there unless the NVC reaches out or we notify them somehow?

Ours has been at NVC for a year and approved. We just wait
