I think I may have made a mistake in our petition. I submitted a copy of the front page of my US birth certificate and wanting to be on the safe side, I submitted a copy of my US passport but only the main page. It didnt occure to me, nor did I read on the USCIS website, the birth certificate had to be front and back, or the passport had to have copies of all the pages. I have read elsewhere on the internet that this could be the case and results in a request for more evidence. Would having both the front page of the birth certificate and the single passport page be enough possibly? This has got me super worried now. Thanks everyone for any advice you could give.

Don't worry.

I'd like to see a link to this uscis webpage as the all pages reference was eliminated a few years ago.

YMMV

This is where I saw it.

I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) Instructions - Reginfo.gov

  1. But like you said, it is expired instructions.
  2.

I dont know how you stumbled into that link above (?) You should be getting any forms and subsequent instructions for the forms directly from the USCIS website.

Yes, some of the wording in the instructions can seem a bit vague and people often have questions like 'what is considered to be an 'original copy' but thats what makes VJ a valuable resource. The forms and instructions are meant to be interpreted literally. If you have a question about ANYTHING dont be hesitant to post it but you may find the answers simply by searching first as it most likely has been asked before :)

Also FYI on the top corner of the forms/instructions you will see wording of "OMB number" and an expiration date. That is NOT the expiration date of the form/instructions. OMB stands for Office of Management and Budget. Their role is to make the forms as efficient as possible. (paperwork reduction act) Periodically changes are made (usually small things like wording or boxes added or removed) and then they have an open period for comments. The OMB date refers to the expiration of being able to submit comments on the version of the form.

The actual expiration date you need to be concern with is on the bottom of the form. It says what edition it is. The USCIS website tells you the current edition date. https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f You must send the current edition.

Now as for the original question- You most likely will get an RFE for additional evidence (all pages of passport or copy of birth certificate). Its not a big deal but it will cause a slight delay for them to RFE you, you to respond, them to process it, etc. There is also a chance they reject your whole package- but if they do they will reject it at the mailroom (so no NOA, no payment cashed- the whole package will be returned) This is because they have implemented guidelines that allow them to reject packages if they are missing key initial evidence. Its designed to stop people from attempting to secure a place in line by sending incomplete packages. You did send something as proof of citizenship so most likely the mailroom will mark it as all the initial evidence needed is there- they just dont check the contents of the evidence. When it finally gets to an Officer who then checks the contents they will see you didnt send all the pages of your passport and will RFE you accordingly.

I recently had an RFE due to my birth certificate was an abstract and not the long form they require.  Even though it was a certified copy.  The RFE wanted the long form birth certificate or a copy of my unexpired US passport.  I sent them back the data page to my passport and I got approved.

The birth Certificate I sent USCIS was the same birth certificate I used to get my passport.

I certainly hope you didn't use that edition of the petition to file
