Petitioning my son

Hello everyone.! I just need some advice if which the easy way to file petition for my son who is going to turn 14yrs old this year. I am a us citizen and planning to start the paperwork to bring my son with here in the US but I’m not really sure I’d do I need to hire a lawyer or I can do by myself? Maybe anyone of you here have same questions on me that could help.? Please share your experience and how did you start or did you apply online or by mail? Thank you so much.! Follow the site guides.  It all starts with an i130 petition.   Online or mail is a personal choice.   Online is certainly gaining popularity

Do not waste your money with the immigration lawyer. Applying IR2 visa for minor child is very easy process. My eldest son got here 2018 and my youngest son's flight will be next Friday (4/2). Goodluck.

are you saying I have to file iR2 instead of i130? Sorry I get confused what’s the difference of this 2? And would you mind if I ask you more questions if what are all the requirements do I need? And how long does it takes? Thank you so much

Please read the guides at the top of the page about this. They will answer many of your questions (such as, all family petitions use i130 to file but each family type has different categories, such as IR2 - child of a citizen),

I started the petition for my then 13 year old son and he got approved this February. It took 2 years. I did it without a lawyer

If you are good at reading and following written instructions, then you can do it yourself without a lawyer.  Read and follow the Guides on VisaJourney.

 

You start by filing an I-130 with USCIS.  It will be an IR2 case.
