Hi All! I'm new here so please forgive me if i haven't posted this in the right place. I tried to use tags? Anyway...

I was hoping for some advice.

I had my K1 interview 2 days ago (24th March 2021) at the London Consulate.

The interviewer was a little stern however the questions were as expected. At the end of the interview they explicitly said to me "I have everything I need and I am going to approve your visa". No 221g was handed over or anything like that nor was there any indication that they needed more evidence. They took my passport and then proceeded to tell me how many working days I should wait for my visa. We even had a discussion at the end about COVID restrictions leaving the UK at the moment and how the visa packet should be more than enough evidence for travel out of the UK at the border since emmigrating is a valid reason for travel. Hence, all very positive discussion indicating visa issuance.

This is why now I am confused. I checked my ceac status out of curiosity and I have been placed in "Advanced processing". I thought this was normal and something that happens whilst they are preparing your visa HOWEVER people who interviewed the same day as me have said their status is "issued" with some people having already received their visa in the post (yes 2 days after the interview)! These developments are now making me worried about my case.

Did they change their mind or something after giving me the verbal approval? Is this something that can happen?

I did some digging and found that some people go into AP because they have specific careers that show up on security checks but I am not qualified for any of those careers.

I have a british passport and everything but I do have a muslim name....and I do like to travel a lot and in my travels have visited the middle east (dubai, a common tourist location). Is this the cause?

I also saw however that by this point the security checks have already been done?

Honestly I don't know what to make of this situation and was hoping if the experienced people here would be able to shed some light on this as I am getting anxious about it.

ps my status has changed from immigrant visa to "non-immigrant visa" on the ceac which I did read was a good sign so thats something.

I think you mean "Administrative Processing" (AP).  All visa cases go through AP.  Don't stress yourself over why your case is taking a bit longer on AP than others.  You'll likely never know why.  Just celebrate the fact that your visa status has switched to Non-Immigrant.  That's definitely a good sign.
