K2 age out expedite question

Good day VJ,

Our K1/K2 was approved last November 2020 and currently still at NVC

My K2 will be turning 19 years old this year. Our embassy (PH MNL) is not processing interviews unless it's an expedite.

My question is, due to the backlogs caused by this pandemic, can we request an expedite for our K1/K2 interview for the reason of my K2 is gonna age out?

Did anyone here tried an expedite for K1/K2 for the same reason? Is it too early to request for an expedite as my child is turning 19 years old.

Thanks.

I am worried cos US Embassy Manila is still closed for interview (except expedites).

And I have seen from posts here in VJ that the current backlog in our Embassy is now 5,000+

I'm worried by the time our interview is scheduled it will be too close for my K2 aging out.

And yes I am aware that 21 years old is the age for K2 aging out.

They don't get excited until you are 30 days away from aging out.

YMMV

WTH? That is too close.

I don't know who we should be frustrated to, our government for not doing their job eliminating this pandemic or US Embassy PH for not taking K1 interviews.

SMH.

I hear you on things being frustrating. Some other VJ members have decided to file a lawsuit against the Manila embassy for this reason. I'm not joining the lawsuit, but if you're at that tipping point where you want to sue, you can search VJ to find out more details.

It's a very personal decision with no guarantee of success.

The reason for not interviewing is because of tbe IATFs miserable handling of tbe pandemic.  The Department of State has indicated that once they reach a certain level of safety and it doesn't change for 30 days,  they will resume.   IATF keeps changing the rules every week.

YMMV

You really think you may not get an interview until >two years from now?

So you have 2 plus years before your child ages out.

So hardly a current issue, from what I have seen aging out is a noted factor and they will expedite should the situation arise. Maybe diary for 2 years and review the situation then.

Based on the current situation in our country, I'm pretty sure it would take that long. :(
