Hello everyone! My husband became a citizen last year January, and this year he is finally petitioning for his mother in Peru.

Question, she plans on visiting on her tourist visa for 4.5 months April through August (she does this at least once a year since she has so many grand kids here as well as in Peru!). So if we file for her by the end of this month March, do you think there will be any issue between April-August that requires her to be back in Peru like an appointment? I've read it takes about a year for the whole process, so hoping she'll be back in Peru before we hear back.

Also, we live in Florida, does this mean our office may be Texas? Does anyone know if they've been relatively fast or slow?

Thanks!

An i130 for a parent will be about a year or more before interview will occur,  so no reason for her to be in country during her annual visit.

Petions are not regionally assigned any more.  Assignments  are much more random
