Hi everyone

my name is Zahraa

I did a visa for my husband  in America 2019

to come to America.
After 3 months, they approved my husband for a visa. So now all we needed was an interview. Sadly corona came so they shut down all the interviews in Iraq where my husband lives.
so my lawyer changed the interview in Dubai so they would call him for interview

but now it’s been a year and nothing

no interview no nothing.
so I requested a explicit to Dubai that I am pregnant and I need my husband here before I give birth

sadly Dubai denied my request.
my laywer changed the interview to turkey Ankara

and i filed another request explicit to turkey

they also denied it they told me to wait in line like everyone else for my husband interview

which I don’t know when that will be!!

I don’t know what to do now?

heart broken crying!!
I just need an interview for my husband soon as possible before I give birth

it’s literally been now 2years and no interview!!

It really sucks that we have to wait under normal circumstances, and covid is just throwing a monkey wrench into everything, as you're seeing. Unfortunately, having a child is a natural process and is not a reason to get your case expedited (see thread below if you want more reason). As those others have said, you're going to have to wait like everyone else.

I'm more surprised that your lawyer didn't tell you this information.

In my opinion, the best thing to do is hope and have patience now. Good luck.

👐

Patience......patience.

On what basis did your lawyer change the consulates? Generally, consulate shopping is not allowed. You have to have valid residency if you want to interview in another country.

Putting aside the issue of consulate shopping, even if they agree to interview him, he will be put at the end of the line behind the citizens of the country he wants to interview in.

Unfortunately, pregnancy is not a valid reason to expedite. It’s considered a usual day-to-day, life occurrence that does not qualify under the criteria of an expedite.

Can you fill out your timeline? It will help to put things into perspective for us to answer your questions.

US Embassy in Baghdad has been closed for several years. Several countries have agreed to allow Iraqis to interview. If you need to interview in a different country you can ask for transfer, however, it must be for a legitimate reason not just for trying to get through faster.

You said your husband’s VISA was approved in 3 months. Can you clarify what you mean. Which VISA class are you petitioning for. Spousal of USC or LPR? I dont believe any Iraqi has gone through the whole process up to interview in 3 months. I petitioned my husband in January 2019 and am still in processing. He has already had interview and “passed the interview “ but got put into admin processing for DS-5535 then got processing completed then back to admin processing. What im trying to explain is that there is a high level of prejudice and time to get approved for Iraqis.

I have known cases of high-risk pregnancies and they approve the expedited interview.  You  must attach medical certificates confirming this.
