Will my parents reopening our family's Asylum case effect my I-485 process (currently waiting for interview)

Hi all, I hope someone very knowledgeable can help me on this. My status for I-485 through marriage is currently just waiting for an Interview to be scheduled but it's been over a year now since they declared "Interview Ready to be Scheduled" and I'm still waiting. My brother just got his US citizenship recently and he is trying to sponsor my parents but according to a lawyer they talked to, they might need to reopen our family's asylum case which has been "Closed Administratively" since Obama's administration. My name is on that case and I am wondering if by reopening the case, my I-485 through marriage will be effected or is it because of the asylum case that I'm stalled for an interview. I have not gotten any letters explaining if there's any thing that's really blocking my interview from the USCIS. Please help me if anyone know anything regarding this, thank you!

Obviously Lawyer territory.

My understanding is that normally the asylum claim would need to be resolved first.

Since the asylum is "Administratively Closed", I thought that would allow me to proceed with the I-485 process. And also, wouldn't they have sent me a letter saying that I would need to resolve the asylum case first instead of giving me a notice saying "Interview Ready to be Scheduled"?

My understanding and you really need to discuss this with your Lawyer is that Administratively Closed means the case is on indefinite hold, does not give you any legal status.

I seriously doubt they go into any great details before scheduling an interview. That is what the interview process is for. You applied, you paid, you get scheduled.

No idea about the impact of your previous asylum case.  Just wanted to note that the backlog at your local field office could be a factor for the long wait time.  If your case is assigned to the Seattle FO like your profile indicates, that office is notorious for slow processing times.  The current published estimate says 24.5 to 26.5 months -- https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
