Glad someone else mentioned the Lake District - Picturesque/rural places are pretty romantic, with the added bonus of having more alone time.

Seaside towns tend to be swarming with drunken Chavs - at least that was my experience.

Why not take her to the lake district, Lake Windermere is lovely and you can go out on the lake on a boat, maybe take a small cooler bag with a bottle of champagne and a couple of glasses and do the proposal either on the boat or at the side of the lake.

I know when my american husband went to the lake district he though the scenery was beautiful, and to be honest I think its a little less tacky than Blackpool prom...if ya catch my drift ;)

Yes this is Brilliant Idea Thankyou so much the lakes will be far nicer mite just spend a couple of days up there. Thankyou so much. Really apreceate you taking timeout to answer this

Eric

Oh, I second the Lake district! Well, basically I second the entire post :)

Yes, a boat on a lake ... a blanket for when it's chilly ... and a picnic with champagne and strawberries would be tops!

Just be careful with the kneeling down. Boats tend to be wobbly ;)

Also, not too far from there (I think): Castlerigg

Not amused.

Funniest.post.ever.

Thank God someone else mentioned a no no on the Blackpool idea...I didn't want to come off sounding biotchy, lol.

It almost makes me choke when I hear people say Blackpool is the Vegas of the North. Pleaseeeeee it is NOTHING like it!!!

Blackpool is great for a day out at the fun fair and nothing more unfortunately!!
