Is received date considered the filing date?

Hello all,

I can't find the answer to my question. I guess that the received date is the filing date, but I want to make sure, as I will probably be filing right before the July 30 deadline.

How sticky are they about the dates you signed the forms? Do they have to be within 30 days of filing? Or does it matter?

Thanks!

Britta

The filing date is the date they log your case in as received. I'd make sure they receive your package a few business days before July 30 (a Saturday) just to be sure. No, they aren't particularly sticky about the signature dates. Sometimes mail takes more than 30 days.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
