You whole file will be in the hands of the interviewer so they'll see the originals. If you have copies of the original documents, you might try to trade the copies for the originals back.

um...well...if you sent the originals with the I-130 and your interview is for the K3, then no, the consular will not have the originals I don't think. They'd still be at the service centre with the I-130 adjudicator.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

Regardless of how long it will take, all those documents can probably be replaced. If you don't have duplicates already, I would get started on getting them replaced. The police reports are only valid for a year but you'll need to hand over at interview time, so that's critical. You are not going to be granted a visa without it.

Hi there,,, you have to get original copy,,, you can still make it since its only 3rd of july,,, you should bring original copies because that is their requirement... if you hand-over to them the photocopy they would still look for the original....

nope, they'll need the original "certified" copies at your interview. They will not accept photocopies.

They say they will give you the originals back that you bring to the interview, not the originals that have been sent to USCIS. My wife just had her interview last week and this is what they did. Where the consulate asks for an original they also need a copy. The copy is put together into a packet that you turn over at your POE. The originals you get to keep but you will need later possibly in your never ending processes with USCIS. Most US county offices that have your marriage and birth certificates have a website or a phone number you get get vital records sent quickly. Order two copies of each so in the future you will always have a spare?

Correct but the Consulate also doesn't have the originals in the I-130 file at the time you interview for the K3 visa. That's why my original answer was wrong. You sent the originals with the I-130 but it is your I-129F file that will be in the Consulate's hands for the K3 interview.
