Hey All,

I hope you all remember us. Our story started in Buenos Aires, Argentina 4/2002 when Salvador and I met. We met in person in 8/2002 and decided to apply for K1 soon there after. There were some issues that warranted Salva to return to his native Cuba and our initial app was abandonned.

We re-applied in 12/2005 and after all that was against us, including a one time CMIT we finally prevailed.

I think I need to post the details in another forum. Let me just say the hold up was the Cuban gov't granting the Tarjeta Blanca. It was granted the day before the K1 would expire 2/7/07. So Salva travelled on 2/6/07 and arrived at JFK the morning of 2/7/07, 12:35am!! What a joyous moment!! After 5 long years, we were finally together forever!!

We married on 2/8/07 in NYC. There is no citizenship or residency requirement to marry there. Just a 24 hr waiting period. Of course that was the coldest day of the year!! My poor husband went from 85f to 15f in a matter of hours!! I'm trying to upload a few wedding pix to this message. If I'm not successful, I'll post them again.

I started researching the topic of fiance/marriage based visas back in 2002 on Britishexpats.com, a website I know most of you are familiar with. After more research I found the Visajourney website. Oh my goodness, what a life saver!! I just want to thank all of you who responded to us personally and those who shared their experiences with us and this forum. I can't really thank you all enough for helping us!! I reccomend this site to everyone who is going through this process!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I plan to stay with this community to post and to help others going through this just as you all helped us!!

It has been quite a journey!! When I was at JFK waiting for the plane to land, I was in shock, I felt so numb. It all seemed like a dream.
