Thanks for pouring cold water!

In FY 2020, priority dates moved by 13 months 7 days.

But that's my point - it's not linear. It could speed up, or stop, or anywhere in between. If your PD is 3 years ahead of the current VB, you can't assume it will be another 3 years until it's current.

The only target is the number of visas issued each year, but there's no target for the Visa Bulletin dates, as it will depend on how many people are ahead of you in the line.

There is a fixed number issued every year.

There is a forever increasing number of applications.

Timelines can only go one way, there will be bumps in the trend.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

If the laws don't change soon its going to be total chaos a few years down the line. We are actually seeing crazy backlogs at the embassy for the Immediate Relatives Categories, now imagine F Visas. But well, they say no other first world offer such visas to the rest of us, its a privilege and we are at their mercy.

Why would it be chaos?

There has been talk of rationalizing the system for as long as I can remember, nothing has happened and I doubt anything will, too many vested interests.

Rationalizing as in “Stop taking new applications until all existing applications are processed and visa issued”?

I have not heard of that option. Does not seem logical, just builds up demand.

Chaos with the system because as you put it, the demand for IV is ever increasing and with the no. of IVs annually a constant. Can't you see how overwhelming it will be for the system in e.g 15 years if the laws don't change to accommodate more cases annually?

Well no

There are F4s now that take a very long time.

They may need a bit more storage as more approved I 130s pile up but that is a minor issue.

The only option I’ve ever heard about is scrapping categories for all relatives except immediate ones. Trump talked about ending ‘chain migration’, dont know if he would if he gets a second term.

This goes back to the time Trump was a Democrat.

And it would require Congress to act.
