🙂 lol indeed! Last year the numerical limit for any country was 25,620 (family and employment categories combined). DR received 45k+.

We have to remember the monthly reports aren't accurate. There's a disclaimer because DR cannot get more visas than legally allowed. WE need to wait for the annual report which should be out soon to get a true idea.:

Therefore, beginning with FY 2020, individual monthly issuance reports should not be aggregated, as this will not provide an accurate issuance total for the fiscal year to date.  Instead, refer to our annual Report of the Visa Office for final full Fiscal Year statistics.

Looking forward to the annual report.
On a somewhat similar situation, in FY 2022, India, China, Mexico received more than 25,620 combined visas (family + employment). Is it because they are exempt from this restriction?

Hopefully DR is not exempt as well.

Not all visas are capped, Immediate Family members are not subject to a cap for example and there will be a lot of those.

Immediate relative (IR) categories are not included in that limit of 25,620. Those countries exceed the limit without IR’s.

You are absolutely right, those are a lot of people being processed from Dominican Republic.

According to the link below, F2B has a limit of 1,838 for any specific foreign state.

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Immigrant-Statistics/Web_Annual_Numerical_Limits_FY2024.pdf

In October, they received 1286 F2B’s. So there are only 552 F2B’s available for them, for the remainder of the fiscal year 2024 (Nov ‘23 to Sep ‘24).

Let’s see how it goes for Dominican Republic in November.

A total of 41,812 interviews are scheduled for the month of November.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/visas-backlog.html
There is a good chance that more than 552 F2B candidates from DR are in that interview list.

I don't know how we see that, positively or negatively, this 9-day movement after 2.5 years, F1 stuck, if that's the case, process of PD 2016 will start in 2025. I don't see any movement in cart B before 2025. good luck guys

I see it as a positive because it should mean they have gotten through the Covid backlog, and that means we should start to see more steady movement. It also seems they are being very conservative with moving it forward. We will have a better idea in the coming months.

Thanks for being optimistic

The biggest issue is the ever increasing number of applicants.

This is obviously good news! Any movement after 3 years 4 months should be something!

As you should know by now, VB movement has always been unpredictable, it can move 9 days, 7 days, 4 months, 2 months, sometimes 0 days as we have observed over the last couple of years ... it cant be an accurate assesment if we say we will only now be seeing 9 day movements here on forward.

Stay positive! This is good news!
