Happy Sunday everyone!

I"m gonna go shopping in a little while. Need to find jammies that will keep me alive in 110 degree heat. :crying: My first night will be spent in Cairo with no a/c and I have to dress appropriately since I'll be with the fam so God help me......I don't do well in 80 degree heat never mind 110!!!! (ok I'm guessing it'll be 110...prolly more like 120!!!)

Other than that just me and the cat doing nothing much today. I finally see my kids tomorrow after a LONG week of their being with their dad.

Gonna make my sister's recipe for stuffed grape leaves tonight. Been craving them somethin' fierce lately!!!!

Hope everyone has a good one!

Though we had the chance for me to finally go to Egypt in the month of August, we're waiting til October.

The reason being, the heat!

He doesn't think I'd like it too well, even with a/c in some rooms.

It's been 110 lately as I guess you've noticed, and July/August are supposed to be hotter than June.

Good luck with it Doodle.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Yeah, the Egypt in Egypt right now bites and it's only going to get worse. My first trip to Egypt was in July and I swore to myself I'd never ever go in the summer again. We're planning a trip for either December or the first part of next year. Weather is nice and cool

haha jen no i didn't drink the water but i wonder how many other glasses she's drank out of that i didn't know about. lol

Well I got a nice cotton nightie so we'll see how that goes. If I can survive just one night I'll be fine since the rest of the time we'll be in Alexandria. I wanted to get a hotel for that night in Cairo but he said his sisters would be very po'd about that. Oh well at least I'll get to eat their yummie mashi!!!! They already have it planned to make it. :)

The stuffed grape leaves are in the oven and smell yummie. Here's the recipe for those that requested it :) I'm not sure but I think the recipe is Lebanese since my sister got it from a guy who used to own this incredible Lebonese restaurant.

ingrediants:

1 jar grape leaves (mine are from cali and come in a huge mouthed jar so they're easy to pull out)

1 pound ground lamb

1 small onion

onion powder

garlic powder

tarragon

salt

pepper

cajun seasoning

6 lemons

1 boil in a bag rice

instructions:

preheat oven to 325 F

boil 1 boil in a bag and cool off

while rice is cooking/cooling, chop up onion finely

mix the lamb, onion, 3 or 4 good shakes of onion powder + garlic powder, salt and pepper, cajun seasoning and a dash of tarragon together.

pull out the grape leaves and line them up vein side up on a cleared off counter. don't use the ones that are ripped, you want nice big ones.

cut the stems off (there will be like a small little stem in the middle of the leaf)

mix the rice in with the lamb mixture

put a dollop of the lamb/rice mixture in the bottom of the leaf and then roll once, then fold over the sides and roll until it's all rolled. repeat until you're out of the mixture.

place the stuffed grape leaves in a well greased (I use Pam with olive oil) casserole dish

do not make a double layer..only one layer and pack 'em tight

put the juice of ALL the lemons (no fake stuff) on them until they're covered with it

line the casserole dish with foil or cover it and put it in the oven for 1 1/2 hours. do not touch them or shake them or they will come unravelled...been there done that.

I like to uncover mine the last ten minutes but that's just me.

bon apetite!!!!!!!!!

Never been to Egypt...I wonder how the temp compares with Morocco. The couple of summers that I have been there, it was pretty hot. But I grew up living at the beach in South Carolina, so I could take it. But I would tell him it was "Africa Hot, baby!!!" and he would just laugh!
