I-693 - Expensive Doctors!

My wife and I went to the doctor today to get her I-693 supplement filled out. She already got immunizations for polio, Tentanus, Influenza, and Hepatitis in Jakarta. MMR was postponed when she got her medical in Jakarta because of the chance that she might be pregnant. Today, the doctor charged us $325 for a turberculosis skin test and HIV test and MMR, which is again postponed because we still don't know if she is pregnant. Did anyone else pay this much money just to get an I-693 for filled out by a doctor or did they just overcharge me?????

Yipes! That is expensive! I didn't need any immunizations and so was only charged for transfering the information from the worksheet to the supplement - $50. I think your wife would have had an HIV test already with her medical in Jakarta as well - that is one of the requirements. She wouldn't have been allowed into the country if she had HIV so that one may have been unnecessary as well.

That sounds more like the cost of a complete medical. Hmmm.

Shop around. Call more than one doctor. One doctor told us $300 for Mark's supplement and we went elsewhere and paid $50.

That's actually not too bad a of price, if you can believe it. The first place I called to get my husband an appt at was going to charge $500 and they couldn't even get him in until August!! I almost fell over!! Then we called around and got him in somewhere for $245 and they took him the same day!

So yeah, your appt was pretty pricey, but it could have been worse! :) Good luck with everything.

12-28-2005 - Ede comes back to the US! (F-1)

12-10-2006 - We're Engaged!! :D

04-20-2007 - Ede applies for EAD

06-29-2007 - RFE for EAD (Grr...)

08-10-2007 - Work Permit Received! Finally done! :)

AOS

06-28-2007 - Civil marriage

06-29-2007 - Appt. #1 for med. exam (blood draw & TB skin test)

07-01-2007 - TB skin test was POSITIVE due to the BCG vaccine...grr...Chest x-ray done

07-06-2007 - Went back to civ. surg. w/ TB clearance...not good enough. Can't have the physical yet.

07-13-2007 - Chest x-ray being checked out by TB doc...still no exam.

07-13-2007 - AOS packet ready to mail...except for I-693.

07-24-2007 - Still no exam, but at least they let us set up the appt...

07-27-2007 - Med. Exam DONE! Overnight-mailed AOS application to Chicago!! :D

07-28-2007 - USCIS signed for delivery of package

08-24-2007 - NOA1 Date1, although it was rejected. See next line.

09-04-2007 - AOS Rejected - improper fee, even though it was postmarked before the 30th

09-05-2007 - Sent back entire package with new cover letter explaining improper rejection

09-23-2007 - AOS package rejected again! E-mailed Congressman

10-05-2007 - Went to Congressman's office - left packet there so be re-sent

10-19-2007 - NOA1 Received -FINALLY! Not rejected! :D

11-02-2007 - Biometrics appointment at Waukegan Office

02-05-2008 - Interview in Chicago -approved! :D

Sept 6/06 - Packet 3 sent

Sept 15/06 - Rec'd letter with interview date

Sept 28/06 - Interview in Vancouver,BC and Visa in hand!

March 13/07 - US Entry

March 15/07 - WEDDING DAY

March 21/07 - AOS application & Interview through DORA Day 1

April 13/07 - Rec'd letter with Bio Appt. date Day 24

April 27/07 - Biometrics Appointment "touched" Day 38

April 30/07 - "Touched" Day 40

June 8/07 - Day 79...still waiting, haven't been touched or heard anything.

June 13/07 - Day 84..... I'm not having much faith in this DORA process..... closing in on the 90 day time frame real fast.....

June 19/07 - Day 90 ......nothing (Hubby calls Senator's Office)

June 20/07 - Day 91 - Got the "70 Day Letter" in the mail today :-(

June 22/07 - Mailed out EAD and AP by Priority Post Day 93

June 24/07 - EAD rec'd at Chicago Lockbox

June 29/07 - Day 100 - Infopass appt in OKC..... AOS stuck in name check

July 3/07 - Day 104 - Rec'd NOA for EAD

July 6/07 - Day 107 - Rec'd letter for EAD Bio Appt. for July 18th

July 18/07 -Biometrics
