Our K1 petition is in transit to the embassy and should be interview ready soon. Yesterday I got diagnosed with umbilical hernia and the doctor mentioned that a minor surgery is not immediately required but advised for the long run. I am not in any pain and it appears as a minute bump on my body. Now we are in a quandary whether to go ahead with the immigration medical and K1 visa interview, and getting the minor surgery done after the interview or should it be done before the immigration interview.

Based on my understanding having a hernia should not be affecting the medical examination but curious to know if anyone has been in a situation similar to ours.

If it's not going to take a while to resolve, why not get it done ASAP? I don't know how it will affect your medical, but I imagine that it's better to go to it with your issues resolved instead of needing to be resolved, that's my logic.

Good luck in any case, friend.

Patience......patience.

Hello, I have a question. Is Mumbai US embassy processing fiancé visa interviews? I thought they are only doing emergency ones? Did anyone got their interview date lately. I got approved on March 11th and I’ll be receiving NVC letter soon.

please let me know thanks 😊

If you mean March 11, 2021, Not anytime soon.  You won't get anything from NVC until they ship the petition to the consulate which depending on the backlog,  could be 6 mos to a year

If you fill in your timeline, you will be directed to the India portals and you can see if they are processing or not. Short answer, yes they are processing. NOA2 to NVC took about a month and NVC to embassy took about a month

I’m no expert but I can’t imagine an umbilical hernia affecting your medical. It’s only an emergency if it becomes incarcerated. In theses COVID times I wouldn’t delay anything immigration wise unless absolutely necessary.
