In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Not just lockdowns, but masks:

https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/m20-6817

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Follow the science.....unless it doesn't fit the narrative.

There are thousands of studies on mask efficacy. You should take a look at a representative sampling of the data. I agree, never just pick the one that fits your narrative. People will see right through that.

There are also a lot of studies regarding schools needing to be open.  For some reason many of the teachers unions ignore them.

Look at Australia and New Zealand  if you want to know if lockdowns, masking and social distancing works. Oh yes they work. Australia a country of 26 million people ... Zero community cases .. unemployment dropping quickly , economy on a great upward trend , safe normal life returning every day .. but it’s not the half hearted lockdown or other measures that we have here. It’s been costly and taken a lot of support from govt to enable people to get tested, stay home while waiting for results , stay isolated and quarantined as requested. .. support those who have no paid leave to fall back on ..... it’s taken cooperation acceptance and trust by the community .. people don’t “like” it for sure .. but the results speak powerfully for themselves. And that’s in a country with a very robust democratic process with economic foundations like the US

Yes these things work when done with cooperation and intent

Rant over ! 🤪

So another comparison, and Australia and New Zealand had the benefit of being able to severely limit international arrivals.  I am not really sure this could have happened in the US, and since the Federal government is very limited in what it can do, and the power is and should be left to the local level.  I do know my good friend from Australia and his brother were not able to get there to see their widowed father at all in the last year, and hearing the ordeal their father had to go through to actually get to work crossing the Vic/NSW border was quite interesting.  Anyway, we see a lot of varied data from a lot of countries, and there are still a lot of huge unknowns.

I agree that it would not be  possible here but not because the principle of lockdowns and masking don’t work. .. rather that maintaining the levels needed to do what has been achieved are not simple easy or quick. It took Victoria 11 weeks of heavy restrictions to recover from 700 new daily cases to zero community infection. That’s in a state of 6 million people. 2  to 4 week lock downs can’t do that

Yes my 92 yr old parents have found it difficult but it has kept them safe. There have been great challenges for all.    There will always be questions about “right” “ best “ optimum “ “ balance”.  No winners either way ., all come at a cost. B

Yes, freedom comes at a cost, and personal responsibility is key to that freedom.

I know, I was in Melbourne/Geelong/Warrnambool/Adelaide a few years ago, and I see they do not require people to wear footwear when walking through a mall.  :)
