   I want to see all these sucker punch jackasses get long jail sentences. I've heard of several people ending up dead because of these attacks over the course of my career, usually damage to the brain stem because they fall back and hit their head on hard ground. They should charge sucker punches as attack with a deadly weapon, because that is what a fist is when someone doesn't see it coming. They also should increase the jail time when it's a vulnerable victim like a poor elderly lady.

There was. I think you missed it. This has been a topic of local "MSM" coverage out here in California for some time. There have been protests happening in the Bay Area and in LA's Chinatown since at least last summer.

 

We do not know the motivation for the attack yet. It is as wrong to say it is definitely one thing as it is to say it is definitely another. It could be both racism AND misogyny, or one or the other. I am approaching this with an open mind, waiting for more information.

More than likely just crimes of opportunity.  My point is with the attack in GA and the fact that it is a white person, we get a nationwide narrative from the MSM being pushed and the WH is taking advantage of that.

Well, the police did say initially they were investigating it as a potential hate crime. The issue is open, and the hard news articles I have read in outlets like the NYT, WaPo, etc. pitch it as as an open issue that needs to be investigated. Opinion pieces, sure, but I don't read opinion to get my news. 

 

What are you saying were crimes of opportunity? The attacks in LA and in the Bay Area? Does it matter if it's one person attacking/injuring/killing one person randomly on the street, or this guy killing 8 people?

I have not seen those claims. But we do know that attacks against the Asian community has significantly increased for some reason.

 

I still would not say that there is no current evidence that this is a hate crime based on the race of the women, unless he was obsessed with Asian women specifically; however it is a hate crime based on gender. I can certainly see though in light of what has been happening lately that it would make the community skeptical.
