Hi everyone,

Just a question. My fiancee and I was talking about changing her name when were married. Its really a pain to do and lots of money. Which would be extra money to find when going threw the AOS, Would it effect the AOS if she didn't change her name till after we'd got it all sorted ?

Thanks for your help

Eric

When you marry the name change is done on the marriage licenses and cert, No additional charge.

It makes no difference if filing AOS in married name or maiden name, they will see th change on the marriage cert.

If you decide to file AOS in maiden name then change later, you will file I-90 to change the green-card, FEE: $200 now $370 starting July 30. So it is best to decide before filing AOS, after you will pat extra $$$.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

So your basically stating that when you get married and sign the marriage licenses, that you then put in your "new name"?

Sorry for asking these questions, never been married before.

Thanks,

I got married in Texas, and our marriage license has my maiden name on it. However, because it says that I am married to a guy with a last name "Smith", for example, I legally gives me the right to change my last name to "Smith" on all other documents, including driver's license, SSN, etc. I think you also need a copy of your marriage license to change your name in your Ukrainian passport.

No, it will not affect AOS if she does not change until it's all sorted out.

You can file in the maiden name OR the married name.

Ditto with YuandDan on the Fees.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
