I filed my citizenship application on marriage basis. I started this application in September 2019, Hartford CT

the point is that after my interview on August 24, 2019, I was supposed to receive an appointment for my ceremony but so far I have never received anything. after 90 days I started calling USCIS. every time I have called they give me a different answer, I call every month since November.

On November 20th, 2020 I contacted USCIS, 90 days later, which I was told was outside the normal processing wait time. I received a reply from the USCIS officer stating: Your petition/application is in queue to be scheduled for an Oath Ceremony. Once the case is scheduled a notice will be sent to your current address on file.

Then on December 28th I contacted USCIS again. their answer was. I received a letter from USCIS officer stating, We are unable to move forward with your application until the required background checks have been completed.

Then on January 7th I contacted USCIS again. Their answer was. Your application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for oath ceremonies. Oath ceremony appointments are scheduled as slots become available. Once you have been scheduled for your ceremony, you will receive an oath ceremony appointment notice to appear at a certain date, time, and location.

Then on February 22th I contacted USCIS again. Their answer was. We are still reviewing your case. We will mail you a notice when we make a decision.

At this point and now we are in March I call again but not answer yet.

It is now been almost 7 months, I understand that COVID has affected the scheduling, but the letters I received has my process that I don't know where I am.

Have you been talking to tier 2 USCIS officers?

It is strange that an oath would be scheduled and then presumably canceled for covid to then require a background check.

Try the DHS Ombudsman.

You got a name change pending? Name change oaths are done by a circuit judge, not the USCIS. If your state has shutdown its courts you have to wait on them to open again. Also some states really want to do the ceremonies themselves and demand to do them all (Virginia is one of those states)

Weird. if I look at the timelines on this forum, it looks like they have been doing administrative ceremonies in the field office straight after the interview for some time now. somebody had one yesterday. Sounds like somebody is not paying attention or something else is going on. Maybe time to get you congressman involved. (or the DHS ombudsman as stated above).

Calling the USCIS does nothing for you, the field office needs to do something and you cannot get a hold of them.

Hello I hope you can see this. Do you have any update? Thanks. I also thought that they shouldn't have  scheduled your interview if they are not done with your background check that's sucks
