Regardless, the debt increased quite a bit. Call it for what it is.

The Trump administration added almost as much to the debt in 4 years as the Obama administration did in 8 years. Several posters here used to lose it over how much Obama increased the deficit. I imagine they'll do the same with Biden. Oddly silent on Trump's contributions though.

I suppose it's manageable until we can't pay the interest and default. I don't know how far off we are from that point, but we are getting closer every year. Clinton had a budget surplus in the last year of his term, and GWB in his first year.

Clinton added about $1.4 trillion to the debt.  Like I posted, only Calvin Coolidge actually subtracted from the US debt.  You are correct, Trump and the GOP actually added to the debt in huge numbers.  One of the things I criticized him for.  It is unsustainable, and there will be a reckoning at some point.

Typical for the Trump loyalists. And the golf course time too. That became ok with Trump. Hypocrites.

Correct, but Clinton and Bush had the most recent single year budget surpluses. They both saw net budget deficits and debt increases over their 8 year terms.

The analogy with the debt is like when someone wants to lose 100 pounds. You don't start off day one focusing on the time or effort to lose 100. Start with 5 pounds and build on that. So start with a one year budget surplus and build on that. Some years may need to run a deficit, but running a deficit every year is how we got here. So just like you can't lose 100 pounds in a month, it's going to take years of effort to cut into the debt significantly. However it is not rocket science. We all understand what needs to be done.

I filed on March 8th and had the refund deposited on March 15th.

Perhaps the IRS has seen your post history and aren't in a real big hurry to get you your money back.

so you're suggesting they have a left leaning bias?
