Capn - Since these new filing rules (locations) are not in effect till 7/30, isn't it better to wait? Noobs will likely get confused & send it to the wrong place.

Actually the USCIS Said:

"USCIS will accept Forms I-129F, I-131, I-140, I-360, I-485, I-765 and I-907 filed with the new “Direct Filing” location in advance of the July 30, 2007 effective date, that are otherwise properly filed."

Reference: http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/Up...iling062107.pdf

IF I am misunderstanding tell me though :).

I dunno, it reads fine to me...but then I read the filing locations on uscis.gov and it still has the old ones & no mention about early acceptance at the new locations.

the words 'otherwise properly filed' would give me pause...does that mean, if it needs an RFE, the whole pkg gets returned if you've mailed it early to the new center?

Per a telephone conversation on 5:00 EST 7/2/2007:

We have confirmed with Officer Ruiz of the USCIS that you can, yes, file your I-129F's in advance of July 30th with the new direct filing location.

Wow! Had I just held out a little longer :(

Filed with the new fee then, I assume?

btw...tres cool of you to call for everyone, E...

New fee only required on / after the effective date. Filing locations are unrelated (but timed to be the same for convenience).

Just to clarify for my own curiosity, is this what Agent Whoever you spoke to at USCIS specifically said; or is this your take? Not being a snot here-just checking :)

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

The PDF Capn linked to says so, as well as the one he called.

Tmma-

It is good that you want to make sure. To answer your question, I wrote down exactly what she said. I do not know immigration nor claim to and am only reciting what the USCIS has said and printed publically.

I referred her to the press release (see link above for the press release at the USCIS.GOV website) and read to her what it said. I asked if that meant people could send an I-129f per the Direct Filing instructions prior to the 30th and she put me on hold to verify. She came back and said that, yes, the press release is correct and you can.

I thought the pdf was pretty clear but I wanted to get the USCIS to confirm just to satisfy myself. The Officer confirmed it. I would suggest that anyone that is concerned continue to file at the current location until the 30th, however, both an official published press release and an officer at the USCIS have confirmed the details. The officer gave her contact info so we have record of the source and call.
