My wife just went for interview at Mumbai, India US consulate and had the interview in english. The interviewer she got started speaking very quietly away from the micropphone and she couldn't hear what he was asking. Then only asked her one question and in an extremely rude and loud manner "Why did your parents approve of your marriage?".  He didn't even let her finish her sentence and he gave her the 221g pending document submission and told her that she is only getting married to a US citizen because she wants to come to US.

The 221g document stated that they want all the proof that we have an ongoing relationship. such as all our chat/call logs, proof that i'm financing my wife, photos of wedding/honeymoon, proof of wedding, etc. She carried all those documents with her to the interview but he wouldn't look at them or listen to what she had to say.

So after following the directions on the 221g letter saying we have to make an appointment on ustraveldocs.com/in for the vac document drop off, I made the appointment but its not saying it's an appointment to the VAC center drop off, it's saying it's another appointment to the Mumbai consulate one month later.

So does this mean she has to go for another US embassy appointment in Mumbai? What about the VAC document drop off, how do I make the appointment for that?

This has really destroyed everything, we can't even joke or laugh with one another anymore, she's crying everyday and it's very upsetting that this has happened. We don't know what to do. If someone could please help us I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I did get an update, so the document that we received from the embassy interview stated that we had to submit certain documents (pretty much all the evidence of our marriage) all over again but to one of the vac centers. We had to make an appointment on the ustraveldocs website. It took a very long time because of the shutdowns, so after dropping all the evidence to the vac,   one week later they said to make another appointment for vac to drop the passport off at the vac. Getting the appointment took 3 months with all the shutdowns and trying to find availability every single day. We found that all the appointment times we were able to find were available during noon in eastern standard time (New York), i'm not sure if that will work for everyone else, but all three times we got an vac appointment it was during that time. We did not have to do another interview.

I hope this helps

Yes, we followed up. After all the struggles and non-stop obstructions, my wife is finally here now with the thanks to god.

When we made the appointments, the website did say mumbai, but you can do the drop off at any VAC location. The way we found out was she visited her local VAC and showed them the appointment letter and confirmed it that she could just do the drop at the local VAC.  Good luck to you, with all these govt shutdowns non-stop it will be challenging like it was with us, my prayers are with you. My advice is once your spouce gets the passport back with the visa, book the next soonest flight. The Covid test to get on the flight is a headache too btw so be prepared for that.

When you finally got the appointment to drop off the 221g documents, why did you not include her passport with the documents? Did they tell you not to? (We are trying to get the 221g dropbox appointment...every day, no appointments available)
