Not everyone want to have life in US to be called slave or Alien, it was a lot of sacrificed I made before leaving behind for love, such as many people as well. Again those Senators, REP that has forwarded a Bill to remove that word - I'm sure their senses is probably working like me too.

If you think Slave and Alien are even remotely similar than you might want to seek help with someone in person

You brought this up.  I hope you can learn something from it.  The responses here can be a learning experience.

People are fed up with politically correct stuff like this, especially when it is complete nonsense.  How did you get this idea planted in your head?  Did you come up with it or were you influenced?  Think about it.

I'm an alien here in the Philippines.  I have an ACR card, Alien Certificate of Registration.   I was an alien in Germany for 4 years.  When my family moves to the U.S. next year, my wife and stepdaughter will be Resident Aliens.

The fact that you think this is an issue says something about how you feel about yourself.  You know your self worth and labels do not change it.  Stand proud of who you are and fight for worthwhile goals.  Don't let groups with agendas guide your thinking.

Since you love the word Alien, I guess you as Alien have no right to complain about serious of backlog then. People get treated with the way they been classified. I'm sure the same government bills that's calling to remove such words know what people like me and millions of others are calling for.

The great thing about America is that people do have a right complain whether they are citizens or not.

I don’t know why, because I enjoy being called a term often associated with an extraterrestrial that removes my right to complain.  There is nothing in US constitution about ETs having no rights.

When the Bill is passed and decency return to USCIS - you can decline the decision then and remain ALIEN since it suit you.

We have different category of people such as the way they reason, desperation category to move to US and their entire family, you always ready to be called anything as long as you are in US, you don't care.

The only thing I learnt from it is people like you with desperation but ready to be called anything to dehumanize them from other begin, that is why you guys are complaining while my petition is not about backlog, but you forget to realized Alien will always be treated as one, so do not complain about backlog, enjoy the name and the backlog.

The term "alien" doesn't affect your rights. Neither is it said or applied to you as a person with any ill intent. It isn't a derogatory term. There's no need to get so bent out of shape over it. I'm sorry that you feel offended by it's use, but you are not obligated to use it to describe yourself.

As others in this thread have said; there are bigger issues with USCIS that could be fixed than one small word like this. Changing the term from "alien" to something else will do nothing to reduce the backlog (and may actually just make it worse if you take into consideration how many documents would need to be changed to remove "offensive" terminology; wouldn't you rather that time be used to process the various petitions that have been waiting months and years?).

I mean, we are not USCs yet, so what should we be called in the meantime? Foreigners? Outsiders? I bet “still in the immigration process” doesn’t fit in the GC.

Don’t get me wrong, you do you. But a word doesn’t mean more than that. Plus, immigration is heavily backlogged. Can you imagine if we asked them to remove the word “alien” from their forms??!

It needs to be taken a step further.

"Human being who moves from country of birth to country of new residence country" needs to be inserted in all documentation worldwide where the word Alien exists now.  That should work for a few years until someone finds something offensive about the label "Human being".   Oh wait!  George Washington was a human being and he owned slaves!  I'm going to have to put a lot more thought into this.  Oh wait!  "Country" is offensive as it is about borders.  I want a borderless world.  I'm going to have to put a lot more thought into this.

Also, immigration forms worldwide will need new tickboxes for the immigrant to choose their preferred label to be used until they decide to become a citizen.  Their choice, so they can't be offended during the transition.  "Other" will be used for a few years until cancelled.  Alien will not be a choice because it will be reserved for use only by true aliens from other planets.  They have started a petition about this and want exclusive use of the label.

Too bad this was not part of the American Rescue Plan.  They included everything else.  This could create thousands of government jobs.

Alien means foreigner. It didn't start meaning creature from another planet until the SciFi movies of the 50s. Why not petition hollywood to stop using the word?

No way.  Aliens have all the best gadgets.  Its where we get our tech.
